Hillary could have done what trump did but chose not to.
No matter where you are on the political spectrum this assassination in front of the world isn't a good look for America.
Has Trump been much of a warmonger? Certainly not as much as previous presidents.

He's talked about it more and been more threatening, especially publicly. But he hasn't acted as much as others did in the past.
He expanded the Afghan war, relaxed rules of engagement resulting in far more civilian deaths across all existing wars, vetoed a bill to stop support for Saudi war in Yemen and is now on the brink of singlehandedly causing the biggest war America has been in since Vietnam.
It's utterly ridiculous to give him any credit for not being a warmonger.

his very first trip after inauguration (2017) was to Langley, where he made the same remarks. "maybe another chance" at taking the oil.
he also ran on indefinite detention, war on whistleblowers, lifting the "defense" cap, reauthorizing the Patriot Act, etc, etc.

In defence of the voters many voted for Trump as a vote AGAINST Hillary given that the system allows the public very few options.
point taken, I somewhat agree. maybe "ran" was the wrong word, but he was pretty clear the direction he would take. regardless of him being a serial panderer, I'm not sure he says what people want to hear all the time. he should have lost the anti-establishment, libertarian vote (fuck the system) long before he did if they were truly paying attention.
IMO, he does believe whistleblowers should be executed & mass surveillance isn't a big deal. I would guess he also believes in dumping YUGE amount of money into the MIC, therefore the cap had to go. his war remarks are all over the place, but he has been pretty consistent about oil. these are all things he stated on the campaign trail.
I think the statement had more to do with the labels people were putting on him, misguided as they were, than what he was calling himself.

It's only that he's incompetent that he hasn't pushed the major conflicts through. Being a warhawk doesn't necessarily mean you start wars. If you're constantly threatening to start wars you're a warhawk. He's clearly not a dove is he?
