Meh, I'm not happy about it. This nonsense lawsuit is just eating up money that could be used to put off shows and pay fighters.

What do people want? Are MMA fans happy that a bunch of bitter ex employees who couldn't hack it in the UFC are pushing a lawsuit that they're going to lose?

The only ones who will benefit from this are the lawyers.

That's such a close minded, misinformed view of what's occurring here, and why.

its not just for those particular fighters, its a lawsuit on behalf of all fighters. Not just in the past but also moving forward.

There's been talk that the fighters have been underpaid in relation to other sports like boxing. That the profit sharing has been disproportionate between owners and athletes in the UFC. Not to mention some of the contracts are really one sided and contain a confidentiality clause in them so that the fighters can't let anyone know how much they make and everything is super secret and hush hush.

The discovery allows the lawyers to see if there are any discrepancies from what the UFC states and what is really true.

I think we all want the fighters to get what they deserve and not get ripped off since they are putting their long term health on the line for employment and also for our entertainment. We don't want them to be punch drunk in the future for low money while the promoters took a lion share of the profit on their behalf.

Its a way to clear things up.

I 100% agree that the UFC are paying shit money. I said in another thread that it's going to hurt the sport and young athletes are better off taking up boxing than MMA.

I just don't get the legal issue about the monopoly. It's not against the law for a business to offer mediocre pay, or put confidentiality agreements in a contract. And if people want the UFC to pay fighters more money, it certainly isn't going to happen by costing them millions of dollars fighting a lawsuit.

I think the courts will decide if Zuffa operates legally or not. Unless you have inside info like contracts, books, etc you'd like to share.

If you don't take them to court then you are essentially hoping they use the honour system and will pay fighters more from the bottom of their hearts. They could continue to rip them off for years to come. No one would be the wiser.

Through the discovery process you could see if they are truly ripping off fighters or paying them fairly. They might be taking a larger share of the profits for each event/ sponsor then they claim.

Well it isn't going to happen with wishful thinking and a cap in hand. We've seen that.
