So it looks like a major dick tuck and a backtrack on a ban.
But... On the 23rd he had actually signed this and agreed to the terms and suggestions that left the exception in place for inpatient treatment.

Holy shit it shouldn't be this hard to find the actual facts but I had to do a serious hunt to find the document and get the timeline of things straight. If only people in the media would take that same 20 minutes to get the details before spinning people up and giving ammunition to people so that they can rightfully point fingers at how shady things appear.

So, yeah, we are screwed by the double whammy. But what makes people so sure that summer is even going to be some sort of savior in the Northern Hemisphere? I know it will stop you getting the double hit, but I don't know were people are getting the idea that it will be enough to get a handle on coronavirus itself.

My city Melbourne - which is in temperate southern Australia - has only had slightly more cases than Australia's 3rd largest city, Brisbane - which is in the subtropical north - but it has twice the population. They've got it much worse per capita and it's also a less dense city. We're not in summer anymore in Australia but Brisbane is a really warm place. If you look at the next 7 days, it has a range of 80-86 for highs and 63-68 lows - it's never below 63 and is 80 every day. That's summer weather in many places on earth. You compare that to Melbourne and you are looking at highs of 59-73 and lows of 52-57 every day apart from one low of 65. It's not even in the same ballpark.
If hot weather was supposed to slow the virus, you'd think Melbourne would be getting fucked way harder. But nearly the opposite is happening.
Not excusing it at all but I really need to know more about how that is happening.

I just realized it's 2AM and I'm leading a webinar at 730 that I've barely prepared for. Oops.
We aren't. We are guessing it might slow it some as we change social behaviors and other coronaviruses do poorly here in the summer. Then again noroviruses do okay.
That's us now. Spring. Well be 20F hotter than that in the summer.
Still no one is banking on it being a panacea.
Just slower than now with a worry that it will speed up again with all the social factors that bring all the other respiratory pathogens in full force.
The average temperature in Brisbane now is roughly the same as the summer average across the continental US, even if some places are much hotter. I'm not saying it's hotter there than Phoenix, but it's still very close to summer weather by a lot of place's standards. And I'm not just talking about the US. The Europeans think it's going to save them too. Even in the peak of summer in London, it's nowhere near as warm as Brisbane is right now.
Here's a more authoritative person saying what I'm saying. Summer will help, but there's no reason to think it will help us much as people think it will.

Global News has confirmed that residents of the Lynn Valley Care Centre are receiving hydroxychloroquine as a part of an international study on the effectiveness of the drug.
Forty-six residents and 24 staff at the facility have have tested positive for COVID-19.
The drug is being administered to all residents of the virus-stricken building known as “the lodge” at the care home, with the exception of those who opted out of the trial.
Debra Drew, whose father is one of the COVID-19-positive residents of the facility, said her family decided to opt in.
“As a family we had the right to deny the treatment,” she said.
“We said, ‘Yes, lets try it… Every day is a new day.”
Hydroxychloroquine is a Health Canada-approved drug which has been used to treat malaria for more than a half-century. It is also used as a treatment for lupus.
The drug made international headlines this month when U.S. President Donald Trump touted it as a potential breakthrough treatment for COVID-19.
The drug has shown promise in some small, early trials.
However, its benefits remain unproven, and the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) has recommended against its use to treat the disease “based on the lack of clinically convincing outcomes and the fragility of the supply chain.”

Another knock on impact we will suffer here is that people will have been stuck in their homes for three months before winter even hits, which is going to lead to a shitload of Vitamin D deprivation across the board.

Husband went to Safeway yesterday. They've got it all in hand. Perspex glass sneeze protectors for the cashiers, and they have taped markers on the floor so you know where you can stand. You have to queue in the same queue and you're called over to the checkout after the person has finished.
I've only been to a chemist and a small grocery store a couple of times in like 3 weeks and saw no difference to normal. I'm happy it's being taken seriously in a big supermarket.
Even with the glass, after a customer leaves, they sanitise the conveyor belt etc before the next customer.
Daily Fail so pinch of salt, but I think they've been dodgy with their data.
