That’s what a Jew would say.

Giving Iran back it’s money that it was owed was a master stroke.

it would have allowed Iran to be a serious player and bring them back into the international fold.

starving them with sanctions has created at least 11 proxy wars and allowed Russia to become the biggest super power in the Middle East.

propping up Israel is a false economy.

until they become a humane state they should be shunned like South Africa was under apartheid.
Who loves the Ayatollahs more, you or @conor mcgregor nut hugger ?

What about Chi-nah?
I despise them as much as I hate Netanyahu
Well shouldn’t they be shunned until they become “humane” and not welcomed back into the fold?

Restrictions and punishments in the Islamic Republic of Iran which violate international human rights norms include harsh penalties for crimes, punishment of victimless crimes such as fornication and homosexuality, execution of offenders under 18 years of age, restrictions on freedom of speech and the press (including the imprisonment of journalists), and restrictions on freedom of religion and gender equality in the Islamic Republic's Constitution(especially attacks on members of the Bahá'íreligion).

Reported abuses falling outside of the laws of the Islamic Republic that have been condemned include the execution of thousands of political prisoners in 1988, and the widespread use of torture to extract repudiations by prisoners of their cause and comrades on video for propaganda purposes.[3] Also condemned has been firebombings of newspaper offices and attacks on political protesters by "quasi-official organs of repression," particularly "Hezbollahi," and the murder of dozens of government opponents in the 1990s, allegedly by "rogue elements" of the government.

Again.

another whataboutry argument.

Iran was coming back into the international fold.

until three weeks after Trump came into power.

I hate the Iranian leadership as much as I do Israel’s.

Iran don’t keep other nations in a zoo.

but that’s like saying I only shit myself a little bit.

both are barbaric governments that I strongly disapprove of.

I’m not into point scoring on either one.

both have elements I find disgusting. Who is worse?

Clearly Iran. But I would have liked to seen how they would have reacted given the chance they had under the EU and Obama’s plan.

One of the local hospitals here blankly said "We can't buy masks right now." They put out a request on Facebook for people to donate them.

That being said, it occurs to me that people aren't looking at the perceived value of masks in context. If I were making a sundae analogy the base would be ice cream (effective testing) hot fudge (improved hygiene norms) brownies (social distancing/self isolation) and the a cherry on top (masks) For a good sundae we need all those parts, but in a pinch just a bowl of ice cream is still most of the way to where you want to be. However, if you were craving a sundae, and I gave you a bowl with a cherry in it, you'd be understandably confused as to why I'd bother wasting everyone's time. Without effective testing, which as it sits right now we're nowhere near, you can close everything and dress people up in hazmat suits and it isn't going to help.

It also occurs to me that people seem to be under the impression that the goal is to stop the spread when the goal is simply to slow it to a manageable pace. If people are doing everything they can to prevent themselves from getting sick this is going to go on forever.
i'd say that the mask is the bowl, not the cherry. Sure you can have a sundae without a bowl, but everything works better when it's there.

I just want you to apply your standards evenly, it’s not what-aboutism at all, it’s what-about your contradictory positions as an individual. Either they should both be
in or out.

1) an empty bowl is no more a bowl with a single cherry in it. 2) How in the fuck do you have a sundae with no bowl? Like, hold your hands out?

Give Isreal the money they deserve and bring them into the fold. It would be a masterstroke I hear.

So why are we staying home again? These half ass lockdowns will damage the economy without them being worth it.
That's a pretty good point

I've run out of boots for the OR today. I'm not sure why that is. Who the hell is hoarding boots? Gimme some boots.
Gonna have to buy some danskos so I can autoclave my shoes now.

Oooh a distraction is being painted right now. Drug cartels are invading the US!! I’m waiting for the Fox News report of how cocaine causes covid19 symptoms to worsen.

Analogies aside. The mask is going to be needed. There's a reason why healthcare professionals use them. Of course, we are dealing with a shortage and we need to prioritize usage. But ideally, we all wear them.
