Is that book any good? I have the physical copy, but haven't gotten around to reading it.
tl;Dr - if you got HBO, just watch the show

I have the book but only read a little of it. I've audiobooked it 1.125 times tho: narrator is great, but its not really my jam. starts slow, gets better tho

its on HBO Now tho. I've seen 2 of 4 episode so far (6 part limited series), and the Canon translates very well to TV.

plus, the show adaption is adding stuff. cause the book is mostly from the perspective of the 7 year old character based on the author when he was 7. but the show obviously has a third person POV and expands on other older, cooler characters like his cousin

These are the same idiots that claimed "you can't get it from animals", despite them being walking surfaces.
Criminals.
They should be shot.
Not JUST shot.
Shot on the world stage for every eye to see.
Only chinese bats.

There is a mountain of anecdotal evidence around but it just doesn't add up. The way this thing spreads once the first few confirmed case hits a place, we would have been seeing bodies piling up.

It is weird how many people have experienced recent anomalies. I got properly sick with bad flu-like symptoms for the first time as an adult in December while travelling interstate. Lasted 3 weeks. I've never had anything beyond very mild colds since I was a child.

But more likely age and being a fat piece of shit finally caught up with me than some early covid exposure from a bat-eating Wuhan traveller to Oz.
Did you have a fever?

you seem to be saying in one breath it’s the WHO fault they should know everything but also saying they are shit.
Yes, this is exactly the problem. They're supposed to be the adults, and they completely fucking blew it.

your guy called it wrong way before WHO did.
I don't have a "guy" but WHO called it wrong before there was anything to call wrong, so I'm not quite sure where you're getting these grand ideas from. Shit, WHO is still telling "healthy" people not wear masks even though we now know that seemingly healthy people are likely who's spreading it around.

That is pretty fucked up if true...I can't say I disagree

problem reaction solution

although in this case I think the last two have been planned
With mass testing, you'd be able to appropriately quarantine people until this thing runs it's natural course then back to normal. Unless we come up with a vaccine, then we're good to go. But if we're stuck with multi day testing, and no treatment, this is our new reality.

Here in Vancouver BC most people think this thing has been around since last October. I know a couple of people that think they had it last fall. I also know one guy who had it recently, an ambulance paramedic friend of mine. He was on oxygen for five days but no respirator. Says it was bad but nowhere near life threatening.
Heard the same here
mostly from health care workers that had it and saw a few cases in their workplace
my pops is damn healthy for 70 and he grabbed it on a flight in december
I think he gave it to me early january...I had a very rare fever and lung congestion for 2-3 days, got better but it kinda lingered for about 10 days

My pops was doing music gigs and stuff during that time and probably spread it around the west coast

I agree this new strain of corona has been about for 4-7 months in west coast US if you connect the dots among the people I have spoken to.

or the death rate is far lower than we have been led to believe

that is certainly an option

He actually said that.

then when a reporter asked him if he was doing that.

he said. ‘I didn’t say that’

I mean he did. But it was like 5 mins ago.

you can’t blame his retarded brain to remember historical stuff. There’s too much going on.

maga!

There is some evidence that we can't even trust the testing...so that is a monkey wrench IMO.

Sucks.

Did you have a fever?
Yes. It did genuinely feel a bit different than the flu symptoms I've experienced as a child. Kind of felt like having the flu and some other disease at the same time, hard to explain. But it simply wouldn't have been Covid.

We already know the death rate is lower than the stats show.

But it still doesn't add up. This thing spreads like wildfire. There's no way people were walking around with it in October. Emergency rooms wouldn't have just seen the spikes in pneumonia or flu that's been reported, they would have already been completely overrun.
