People have got to go to work. Surely they can just give out a warning or hand out a fucking mask instead of manhandling people off of buses.

New York has followed the imperial college of Medicine model almost exactly. Almost to the day as expected their critical care capacity has started to decrease. The interventions are working there. California moved much earlier than the rest of the country.
A quicknd Google tells me that California has 39 million people. With no interventions approximately 2/3 of that will get infected.
But that was never going to happen because people will always intervene once the bodies start piling up.
but yes the natural course of this is that if we never had a vaccine and we all just sat around and did life on a long enough timeline 2/3 or more of us will get infected by this before the virus will nearly burn out from herd immunity.
That's a stat worth mentioning so we understand how long this can go on to have a top end that we're trying to beat with a vaccine in 12 months.
But it's not really worth a stat to mention without context.

They should be giving out masks in a controlled way if people don't have them, yes. But if they've done that and the people still aren't wearing them, then the people have to be removed imo. Warnings don't work.

If you Just let this whole thing go and turn a blind eye and let the bodies pile up I bet that we could get a solid 15 or 20% of California infected in a few months.So
there's a point where you get so many people sick and many recover so they have antibodies that those people start acting like buffers to the virus and it starts moving slower. There's some models at this but I don't have them readily available.
So initially a whole crap ton of people would get sick. 15 or 20% of California is still millions. But then that would really start to slow down after like 8 or 12 weeks. The virus would go from sick people and run into recovered people that had antibodies. I bet you could get two to the 2/3 or so number by 12 months.
Spanish flu got 1/3 of the world infected in 24 months. In California has a lot more dense urban area than ever existed back then.
Of course if we did nothing that would happen. But a week after schools in California were closed he claimed 25 million people in California would get infected in a letter to Trump. Then later a spokesman said well that’s if we don’t do anything. I said at time that was a dumbass thing to say and people were actually freaking out based off his words as a spokesperson a day later doesn’t exactly reach the mass public. He was wrong to say it and his numbers much like almost everyone else have been terribly wrong.
