@Too swole to control I haven't read through the whole thread, but from what I've read in the last couple of pages, you say some very good things that I'm thinking as well !
I can add that I see a big failure of media (trying to watch german, english/french/spanish speaking media) in giving an overview about the situation around the world. I hear zero from China or Russia for example. Sadly I don't know anyone who's living in those countries at the moment. From India I have seen some clips on youtube, but also very little.
If "the west" is so advanced with our hospitals, then the people in countries like (no disrespect meant, just dropping 3 random countries) Pakistan, Turkey, Colombia should all be fucked. On the contrary I think, without proof though, that they are a lot tougher and grittier than us pampered soft assholes.
Also if the virus is that dangerous, then that means that in our societies we would deliberately be putting all essential workers at life's risk without blinking. Also they should drop left and right which I think is not really happening.
Every death is a tragedy, and I'm also scared for my parents. I've even bought them airconditioning machines for the summer lockdown (in Germany, nobody has AC). I have offered my help to many old people I personally know, because they YES should be helped in isolating a bit more.
I don't doubt the virus can fuck you up if you belong to a risk group (heart problems, really old, diabetes, obese), and it should be
number 1 to keep those people save. Period. I would maybe add people who are worried and deliberately choose to isolate, no shame in that. Don't force them to work. They will come out once the media story changes and they personally know people who recovered.
But those who are not in risk groups should be able and allowed to combat the virus with the immune system, which, this the numbers show, has worked for the majority of people.
Lot to read, I forgot to mention the very bogus statistics especially in the beginning, in february and march...maybe at another time : )
