The neighbors would probably appreciate the more direct route. You going to put a door on the other side of the porch for direct access or stick with walking across the yard?
like that when we bought the houseDid you screen in the patio yourself or was it like that already.
I’m going to frame 2 feet around the hot tub so those deck boards can be removed. How do you plan on accessing the hot tub when something breaks?
Yes. Screen door now goes out the side opposite the deck. Going to have one added on the deck side. You going to put a door on the other side of the porch for direct access or stick with walking across the yard?
I rented an auger from the word go. One man with 8” blade but it was no match for the clay soil. I could get down about 8” and had to dig the other 10” with a post hole digger. Holes close to the house, where they back filled, went like butter though. How far down did you get with the post hole digger before you said fuck it and rented an auger?
fuck....You're not giving me a lot of confidence right now. I'm apparently extending our fence out this year and planed to use an auger....it's all clay.I rented an auger from the word go. 18" is half way there for my neighborhood just because of frost heave. 3 feet minimumI rented an auger from the word go. One man with 8” blade but it was no match for the clay soil. If his wife makes a statement and @Wild isn't around to hear her, is he still wrong?have you had any good under-the-stars hottub talk yet?
"if a tree fell in the woods, but no one was around to hear it, does it make a sound?"
post gets crooked from the expansion and contraction of the earth?18" is half way there for my neighborhood just because of frost heave. 3 feet minimum
I probably should have dug them 24” to be safe, but I said fuck it. 18” was brutal enough. I did dig the diameter out to about 10” for them though, so two bags of concrete per hole. The 6 x 6’s that I’m setting for the pergola are going to be above ground mounted. I dug 18” deep x 10” dia holes and filled them full of concrete and then stuck a j-bolt in the concrete to anchor the mounting plate to. I bought 12 footers and if i sunk them in the ground, they would have been short.18" is half way there for my neighborhood just because of frost heave. 3 feet minimum
Maybe I'll get a bobcat with one on the back.Rent a two man and talk a friend into helping. One man won’t touch that shit.
