Trump's gonna need to pull back on that extra $600 unemployment funding. That is not going to be popular.

Reports coming in of companies ramping back up but when they call their furloughed employees the response is "Nah. We good". They aren't coming back to work.

The extra $600 was instituted so the typical unemployment funds were closer to actual paycheck amounts workers were used to. That works in theory to get people through this Covid hardship, but you can't remove the incentive to work once it's time to get back to work.

Dems of course don't see it that way and want the extra amount extended indefinitely.

Just so you are aware, what you're advocating is starving people out so that they are forced back to work for a pittance in the middle of a raging pandemic, which will result in the deaths of thousands. That makes you a giant piece of shit.

Now I am not moralizing - I am also a piece of shit, because I want Stipe Miocic stripped of his UFC belt for refusing to defend it in a pandemic. And that impacts nothing other than my own sensibilities for how cage fighting should be conducted. But at least I will acknowledge it.

What I'm talking about is a manufacturing plant recalling 30 workers off of furlough and only having 3 show up. The rest decided they were cool sitting at home because their income is the same as working.

Not sure if your comment was tongue-in-cheek or not, but if serious you can fuck right off.

It's time to get back to work in areas of the country where it is safe to do so. To do that, we need to remove the incentive to stay on government assistance.

No, it was serious, buttercup. You can delude yourself that you're not a piece of shit for wanting people to risk their lives for 7 or 8 bucks an hour, but you absolutely are a piece of shit for wanting that. What else would you call having such a sociopathic disregard for human safety and material well-being? Why don't you volunteer to work for that manufacturing plant if you are so worried about them not getting workers?

You can always incentivize workers to return to work by forcing through wage increases rather than attempting to starve them back to work. This would stimulate demand and get the economy back on track much faster. It would crush a few businesses that rely on slave labor and force an initial crash and correction on Wall Street, but good, fuck em'. The US economy and society would ultimately be much better for it.

They don't need to recall anything in most states.

If you're called to work at your job and you don't show up then you're either choosing to quit your job or you can be fired for cause and in either situation you no longer qualify for unemployment.

The vast majority of people's lives are not at risk.
In the adult world you cannot shut down the entire economy because there are some who are susceptible.
You can make a provision for the old and infirm, not shut down indefinitely.
In the real world people need to work to provide for themselves.
