@Splinty, great interview by you, sorry about doxxing you but people need to hear this. I hope people take what you said seriously. @Lars you should be proud of your father.

Stages of a Texas Pandemic.

It's a Hoax!
It's the worst black death!
It's not a Hoax but its just the flu so who cares.
Okay it's more than the flu but only for some old people so who cares, they want to die for me like Dan Patrick.
*Okay overwhelming the medical system by being infected all at once seems like a bad idea and might kill a lot of younger people too.
Cheap measures like masks, distancing, testing, and hand washing could slow the spread but only if everyone did it at the same time to not overwhelm the system.
Not killing 1% of your society is actually a good economic choice too.

How far out do you think we are from this all being over?
When's a vaccine coming?

We are just rolling a sloppy herd immunity to bang the risk into people's heads. They will then react and distance in response to cases in their social area. That will slow it down again. Who knows how much???
But we are going to run this thing up and ebb and flow like this until either: 1> there's a vaccine 2>we shoot the moon on cases and it slows it self down.

Ideally you lockdown, spend 4-8 weeks building capacity for PPE, testing, gathering info for a coordinated campaign and then get on with life. And life looks like masks in public, small gatherings instead of large, peer pressure to wash hands, avoid concerts, etc. Government plan should be available testing everywhere without insurance or other barriers. Public information campaigns. Handwashing and cleaning all over the place. We have failed the back end. The goal has never been to stop or zero. It's to slow for health system capacity and testing to isolate the sick from the well. If you all get sick at once you can't do either of those things and death goes up for both reasons.

that’s a really succinct line.

im so bored of this shit I forget why we need to act.

i am so worried about youngsters not going to school, interacting and people with cancer and heart, lung liver problems etc not being treated.

i genuinely forget that if we have a massive wave all this doesn’t get treated anyway.

I suppose that's one way to describe 23 million people without insurance...

Namaste
The number of underinsured people has risen due to the rising costs as well, so are we really in a better position after Obama care compared to before?

No. I have worn masks for 12 hours, only changing into a much more restricted mask for entry into patient rooms, then back to those. Not once did I get a headache. We would spot check oxygen saturation in our blood after periods in the rooms with the n95 respiratorators. I didn't see any numbers under 92%. And that was after pulling and tugging on a 300 lb unconscious man ( to clean him and change bedding) for about 10 mins.

interesting
I do know some people who get headaches from their masks

you must be in great shape...your a hero for "cleaning" a 300lb man regardless of covid, sounds intense
What is normal saturation levels?

All I know is I love Oxygen

Seems to be below osha safety levels inside there

Definitely
Those people sound soft.
to be honest they aren't in great physical condition
mask does seem to affect them though

Of course it brings up the question of does the protection provided and risk avoided outweigh the lack of air and what that effects that causes health wise.
I am sure many would still choose their mask at this time.

Interesting stuff

It's probably a stress headache because they are upset about having to wear it.

100% is optimum.

If I have a patient with 92% consistently then I'd put them on oxygen. But many people drop like that while sleeping.

why can't it be from lack of oxygen? or both?

The protection is worth it, we've worn masks in the past for these types of things. It's not the end of the world because we have to wear masks. Some people think it is.

I am not saying anything is the end of the world, not bringing my or anyone else's personal opinion into this at all.

Just examining the oxygen level inside various grades of masks, science stuff only.

Some people experience the breathing difficulty and dip the mask below the nose or various other improper usages...that is what I am seeing.

Those people equate being uncomfortable with something being a problem, because they are soft.
