Lol, not intentional. But don't pee on my shoe and tell me it's raining.
I don't think you're being out of line. To be honest I'm appreciative when I see someone like yourself take a minute to tell grave dancers to shut the fuck up.

The herd might not be a great plan

"Dominic Cummings' father-in-law, Humphry Wakefield, reportedly told a woman interviewed by The Times of London that the prime minister would quit early next year over lingering health problems caused by the coronavirus."

C'mon now, that's hearsay from some woman, who supposedly heard it from some guy, who supposedly heard it from his son-in-law, who supposedly heard it from Boris.

Must be a slow news day?

That's a fair point. When I read the article on Google I thought it was the father-in-law And it was just an AP source that was kind of scant on details. Grabbed business insider for more details.

And I guess those details I like that this is a nothing burger

Also from that article:

"A Downing Street source described the claim Johnson planned to stand down as "utter nonsense."

:)

yeah but I don't believe that on its own. Every leader will say that until they have to step down. You can't say that you will step down at a certain time and you can't say your health is compromised.

On something like this I think you just have to take the source in context to how reliable that source is...and then you just won't know until they actually do it or not.

He may well be having health issues, but yeah the source matters, for the time being I'll take a statement from a Downing St source over a report of fourth hand information. The Times of London should have higher journalistic standards than to print that story with no other corroboration.

@Splinty it's a good thing there are no pending natural disasters to further complicate matters in your home state

I noticed Flo Rida's cases have dropped dramatically. Genuine progress? Shenanigans? Or a little from columns A and B?
Some shenanigans in the sense that we don't count positive re-tests (we only count the first positive test) in the totals, but I think all states are doing that.

Some things we've done right:
  • Re-closed all bars statewide
  • Cracked down on business violating the laws
  • Mandatory mask laws in public places
But it's Florida. We can only do well for so long before we inevitably shit our diapers again.

You mean like two hurricanes hitting essentially at the same time for the first time ever? Yeah. that.

Spent the day prepping for family coming to me from the actual low lying gulf coast -- same areas hit with Rita, Ike, Harvey, Ismelda. They are saying to expect storm surges on par with Rita even though it'll be a cat 3 wind storm.

Regardless...

We are getting close to the diaper shitting stage again. It's still winter flu season but people are starting to get fatigue and want things to open up. We are hovering around the 150 daily case mark now, which doesn't seem like a whole lot, but we were the global test case in to how quickly things can go from almost 0 to 1000 in the blink of an eye in peak winter flu season.

I am still convinced that the weather has a big say in how this virus spreads. I think the US has fucked research on it because the effect is not so dramatic that it can compensate for such minimal containment efforts. I think if Melbourne can make it another couple of months into the middle of Spring, community transmission will be almost non-existent and they can refocus on close contact outbreaks.

The thing you've got going for you is that you already have such a high rate of infection that the autumn and winter months won't fuck you as hard because you have built up that (incorrectly labeled) 'herd immunity' effect.

But if Europe was actually paying attention to Melbourne, they'd be absolutely shitting themselves about what they are about to face in flu season.

Either because we don't vaccinate as much as you or because we are fatter or whatever...
You manage flu better than we do.

10/100k vs 5/100k deaths.
