So we might have already killed off 150k 180k of our elderly , but we are in for a shit show this fall.

Not sure why the national levels are better in Australia. We're basically as fat and it's similar median ages, so my guess is it's probably vaccination levels (but that's a guess I can't be bothered looking up). We do have relatively vocal anti-vaxxer dipshits here too, but my guess is they aren't as successful as their US counterparts at pushing their nonsense onto the wider community.

I'm not so sure you will get fucked by the flu. So many of the most vulnerably people are already dead and there will be immensely more distancing than a regular usual flu season, as well as far greater social awareness of hygiene. Hopefully for your sake, I am correct.

The bubble will last as long as the political system exists to maintain the bubble. Every now and then the market will get cold feet and send signals to the government that it wants more fictitious capital injected in to artificially reinflate asset prices, who will in turn sending them a signal again that they are indeed protected from almost all risk and are free to continue to gamble with these artificially inflated assets among themselves.

But the issue is this regime is completely unsustainable and will eventually cause the political system to collapse around it, as we are in the early stages of. There are numerous threats to investors but they exist in the form of domestic and geopolitical threats to the entire system which could render these fake assets as worthless as they actually are. But there are no isolated 'market' threats as long as the current regime remains - it doesn't matter if collective private investors momentarily shit themselves because the US government is there to prop it all up again.

If you are an individual investor, you want to be riding this free money train right now. Just be wary that the whole thing will come off the tracks soon enough. But asset values will be the least of your concerns when that happens.

We are getting close to the diaper shitting stage again. It's still winter flu season but people are starting to get fatigue and want things to open up. We are hovering around the 150 daily case mark now, which doesn't seem like a whole lot, but we were the global test case in to how quickly things can go from almost 0 to 1000 in the blink of an eye in peak winter flu season.

I am still convinced that the weather has a big say in how this virus spreads. I think the US has fucked research on it because the effect is not so dramatic that it can compensate for such minimal containment efforts. I think if Melbourne can make it another couple of months into the middle of Spring, community transmission will be almost non-existent and they can refocus on close contact outbreaks.

The thing you've got going for you is that you already have such a high rate of infection that the autumn and winter months won't fuck you as hard because you have built up that (incorrectly labeled) 'herd immunity' effect.

But if Europe was actually paying attention to Melbourne, they'd be absolutely shitting themselves about what they are about to face in flu season.

I think you're going to be disappointed when covid continues to not care about weather.
