"Fuck rural America" - John Stossel
How amusing."Fuck rural America" - John Stossel
What an elitest position that would push for all Americans to move into large communist urban centers...ironically.
I was with the general video until Stossel argues that only profitable operations should be run by government and fuck the rest of us.
This how so much of American has rot gut internet. But that lack of investment is part of what keeps those areas less profitable. If you invest, you'd have people able to move into those areas. But Stossel and others suggest "the last mile" isn't worth it.
Sign me up for that communist living bloc...the most profitable way to get mail and internet!
There is all kinds of hamstringing of post office flexibility by Congress, but 'unprofitable routes should be canceled' is a dumb short sighted solution. Some operations of government are there as a societal quality of life and service. Not just for profit.
I know exactly who he is. He literally suggests that mail service for unprofitable lines should be cut off and isn't needed. "No one's forcing people to live in rural areas" in that very video. He advocates against the need for universal mail access in that video. If you knew who he was, you'd know that isn't his position in the slightest.
Also nobody said that and now you're just putting words in my mouth. I said that a line being profitable or not it's not the metric for success for the post office. And it shouldn't be.Interestingly, you don't think 5 post offices could be consolidated into maybe 3, potentially even 2 with a couple of post boxes. then reallocate "spare" funds to somewhere that might be able to turn a profit, or open a site that may be able to benefit rural America?
I mean, that 5g push covers that, quite well. Even if I don't agree with 5g.I know exactly who he is. He literally suggests that mail service for unprofitable lines should be cut off and isn't needed. "No one's forcing people to live in rural areas" in that very video. He advocates against the need for universal mail access in that video.
And again ironically he suggests replacing it with something like email...lol. when there isn't internet in the same areas for all the same arguments he's making.
I'm not putting words anywhere, hence the question mark. Also nobody said that and now you're just putting words in my mouth. I said that a line being profitable or not it's not the metric for success for the post office. And it shouldn't be.
He did.Nor did I try to make profits the sole metric for success with the post office

Born down in a dead man's town
The first kick I took was when I hit the ground
You end up like a dog that's been beat too much
'Til you spend half your life just coverin' up
[Chorus]
Born in the U.S.A
I was born in the U.S.A
I was born in the U.S.A
Born in the U.S.A
[Verse 2]
Got in a little hometown jam
So they put a rifle in my hand
Sent me off to a foreign land
To go and kill the yellow man
[Chorus]
Born in the U.S.A
I was born in the U.S.A
I was born in the U.S.A
I was born in the U.S.A
[Verse 3]
Come back home to the refinery
Hiring man says, "Son if it was up to me"
Went down to see my V.A. man
He said, "Son, don't you understand"
[Verse 4]
I had a brother at Khe Sanh
Fighting off the Viet Cong
They're still there, he's all gone
He had a woman he loved in Saigon
I got a picture of him in her arms now
[Verse 5]
Down in the shadow of the penitentiary
Out by the gas fires of the refinery
I'm ten years burning down the road
Nowhere to run ain't got nowhere to go
[Chorus]
Born in the U.S.A
I was born in the U.S.A. now
There's colors on the street
Red, white and blue
People shufflin' their feet
People sleepin' in their shoes
But there's a warnin' sign
on the road ahead
There's a lot of people sayin'
we'd be better off dead
Don't feel like Satan,
but I am to them
So I try to forget it,
any way I can.
Keep on rockin' in the free world,
Keep on rockin' in the free world
Keep on rockin' in the free world,
Keep on rockin' in the free world.
I see a woman in the night
With a baby in her hand
Under an old street light
Near a garbage can
Now she puts the kid away,
and she's gone to get a hit
She hates her life,
and what she's done to it
There's one more kid
that will never go to school
Never get to fall in love,
never get to be cool.
Keep on rockin' in the free world,
Keep on rockin' in the free world
Keep on rockin' in the free world,
Keep on rockin' in the free world.
We got a thousand points of light
For the homeless man
We got a kinder, gentler,
Machine gun hand
We got department stores
and toilet paper
Got styrofoam boxes
for the ozone layer
Got a man of the people,
says keep hope alive
Got fuel to burn,
got roads to drive.
Keep on rockin' in the free world,
Keep on rockin' in the free world
Keep on rockin' in the free world,
Keep on rockin' in the free world.
Never In life has there been an easier decision to makeEvery election I'm amazed at the songs played and that Americans no longer know what they are about:
If you just want to rah rah dick wave red white and blue, you're best with Proud to Be an American or Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue
