I went there. Just around the bend looked perfect. A bunch of submerged trees and then a ledge. I was out for 3 hrs and got nothing. I started out trying to fish a drop shot. Had a line with a tube jig on it, then split off a line with the weight. It was picking up too many weeds so I got pissed off and switched to a spinner bait. I ran that along the ledge and trees and still nothing. Then I switched to a shad rattle bait. Nothing! At least I’m getting better at tying knots.
Whats the water temp like up there? Have you tried catching live bait?I went there. Just around the bend looked perfect. A bunch of submerged trees and then a ledge. Chicken livers for catfish. Put a big weight at the bottom of the line and tie hook about 12 inches above the weight. Throw the bobber away.I am going to drop some more brush piles after work. I'm going to run a catfish pole on the bottom and a suspended bait under a bobber.
The bait you ask.......grasshoppers

There are supposed to be bass, pike and walleye in there. I’m definitely going to bring some worms next time I go back. I’ll throw some corn on there too. What are you fishing for?
This time of year when nothing is biting, try whole kernel corn from a can. Buy the cheap generic corn. It's a harder shell and will stay on the hook better. If you want to go big use bacon and eggs. ( that's a worm and then 2 pieces of whole kernel corn)
Supposed to be eh?There are supposed to be bass, pike and walleye in there. I’m definitely going to bring some worms next time I go back. I’ll throw some corn on there too.

Know a really easy way to not have to buy packs and bags?I picked up some little goodies for river fishing because I’m too cheap to buy yet another bag or chest pack strictly for fishing. I have a great back pack that holds 3L of water so I threw on a dual retracting line to hold my hemoststs and end nippers/knot tool. Inside that little pocket is a knife, opposite strap pocket holds my bud and lighter. On the top of the bag there’s a grab handle that I put a magnetic net leash on. This is awesome as it’s on your back as you’re hiking around out of the way but when you reel one in it’s a quick breakaway and you’re ready. I’m the bag itself is TP, food, fly box, tippet, second reel with sinking line... Also got a good deal on some used breathable waders finally which will make the hiking and ability to layer up/down much better.

To other river guys like@Thefifthscallop did you buck up and get a good hip or chest bag for fishing? I went out a while ago with none of the little items and it was really annoying having to take off bag so often or store sharp tools in a rain jacket or neoprene bib. I think this will be way better.
In the beginning I bought a sling pack to store all the stuff I thought I needed, and then I slowly realized I needed a tiny bit more space. I bought a nice waterproof backpack a few weeks ago to get ready for the rainy season. Not only will it keep all my stuff dry in the rain, I can wade a lot deeper if I need to without getting the bottom of my bag wet anymore. I really try and keep the items with me to a minimum. Water, 2 boxes of flies, extra leader and tippet material, nippers and forceps,(which I have attached to my right shoulder strap), a net, and toilet paper(if you’re not carrying that with you, I suggest starting) and finally some plastic bags for said shit tickets and any other trash I find on the bank. It all fits in my 35 liter pack nicely with plenty of room for a jacket if I may need it. I fit one box of flies in my chest pouch along with my leader/tippet spool and phone. Everything else goes in my backpack until I need it.I picked up some little goodies for river fishing because I’m too cheap to buy yet another bag or chest pack strictly for fishing.
