A vote for a third party is a vote for Trump. He's losing and every vote he can shave off Biden is one step closer to a win via his immovable 40%.

I support reforming to a ranked voting system.

Until then, I don't view protest voting/writing in/abstaining as productive. This is a long argued trope and you and I know all the pros and cons of either side.

I won't take a moral win on a write in while I live 4 years of a candidate I want the least.
What the definition of insanity again?

Ever read Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams?

A quote:

“[Ford said] ".. On its world, the people are people. The leaders are lizards. The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur. "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford. "It is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them," said Ford. "They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they voted in more or less approximates to the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards?"
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going in for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard," said Ford, "the wrong lizard might get in.”

Smart fella was Mr. Adams.

You really going to vote for Biden Lizard?

You folks are like us canucks where you don't actually get to select your leader, correct?

Yep, we vote for an MP, and the leader of the party with the most MPs gets to be PM.

I've used a protest vote before, there was no Monster Raving Loony party candidate in my area, but happily the Yogic Flyers had a candidate.

Yogic flying, in case you weren't aware:

Depending what happens between now and the next election I may have cast my last ballot, federal anyways, last year. Time will tell.

It's a clever commentary. But it's devoid of a solution on getting rid of the lizards with any immediacy.

Yes I'll be voting Biden Lizard over Trump Lizard.

I hope the fact that I voted for Trump Lizard in 2016, would not do it again, and would economically benefit personally short term from Trump Lizard is enough to make others consider there might be something beyond team sports here worth considering Biden Lizard.

Part of the fun of voting for Trump Lizard is the team. I'm off the Trump Lizard Train and hope that vocalizing that makes it easier for others to consider doing the same. The train is off the tracks.

Doc, what you're describing here is as team sports as it gets.

2016 was my protest vote and I had zero regrets at the time and still don't.

I can't vote 3rd party this year knowing that they won't win and have done nothing to even get Jo out there enough to get the votes required to get a 3rd party a seat at the table.

Understand that in the two parties prevent third parties from even being on the ballot in some states. It doesn't matter how popular a third party is, they aren't even on 50 states of ballots, they are a non-starter. People always talk about a popular libertarian candidate after the fact while missing this fact. They aren't even actually in the race!

Yep.

I've always voted mostly* Republican until the last presidential election and there was no way I was voting for Don The Con or Killary.

I voted happily for Gary Johnson knowing that there was no chance of him getting elected. I was just hoping that he could get enough votes to meet the % threshold that would enable the Libertarians a seat at the table this year.

Sad to say that in retrospect I almost wish that I had voted for Clinton. Not that it would have mattered but I think we would be in a more solid shit show situation currently than the explosive diarrhea shit show that we're in. When madness happens, that's actually a good time for the vile, hated, disgusted politicians to be in play. They know how to make the machine work when it matters. We still get fucked but at least there tends to be ample lube.

I think I'm going to go throw up after having said that. If anyone needs me... I'll be binge drinking and crying for the rest of the day.

Wow did I just hear that right?

Under Trump, American national debt is about to exceed the size of the economy for the first time since ww2.

Better against each other
It’ll be worth it to see the difference in numbers. Both stations national networks so in theory should draw similar ratings. When Trump pulls 10 million to Biden’s 2 the spin will be fun to watch.

You're one of few people in the world with the luxury of a write in candidate. I consistently hear American complain about "Man, these are both bad options." and then prop it up by voting for someone they don't like. As someone who doesn't get to vote for their leader it's perplexing to me that people who can treat it so nonchalantly.
I voted for myself for sheriff.

You've left a team and want others to join you on your new one.
Nope.

I want others who are only with Trump (the immovable 40% that changes their opinion to Trumps even if its 180 degrees from their opinion yesterday) to have 'permission' to make a choice based on policy instead of cult of personality and team sport antics. When viewing polls, a significant number of people that are voting for Trump disagree with Trump. They are only on board because they want to stick to liberals, view him as an identity candidate, etc. I hope to disrupt that.
