I don't think anyone is shifting blame. But I don't like people using a young girl to influence politics like that. And I'm not going to magically like someone and trust them when I'm so tired of all of them trying to manipulate us.
I have known families who realize someone has a problem and try to deal with it internally. That's not crazy to me unless they allowed the behavior to continue. But adding money and politics into it is what makes the motivations a lot dirtier.
The FBI knowing is a whole other thing. And since with pictures and videos you technically have someone who made and was in possession if CP, there are additional crimes in play as well, that his family may not have known about. They should have been acted on to make sure the person couldn't do it to someone else. Perhaps the CIA wanted to investigate the foreign stuff first, who knows. But a threat to children should have been neutralized period.
The entire thing is most unfair to the girl of all people.
