don't judge me.

even Canadians don't pay attention to Canadian politics.

Make no mistake, the guy is a shit head, but he was told to leave and when the officer escalated he was most definitely walking out the door. The cop just didn't like the guy questioning his authority.
I agree that the officer was heavy handed in his posture, but I get the sense (could be wrong) that he was called to the location...not just stopping in to grab a coffee.

and if a cop tells you that you're in the wrong, and do something simple to get in the right (like step outside), then do the easy thing.
Get in the right and have a real conversation.

I didn't have to get in to many pissing contests with cops to figure out they all end the same way.

that is a huge part of the problem. no one is paying attention .just busy staring at their phones and the media acts as a cheerleader for trudy so people think timmy tam is doing a great job. pretty much all she has done is parrot CCP lies and toe the WHO line

i've heard the same thing from my Canadian friends regarding Canadian politics in general, and especially during the pandemic.

when I flee to Canada, I'm thinking Alberta would be about my pace.

I don't think I ever said the guy was in the right, but the posters pretending this cop wasn't being heavy handed are seeing something that isn't there.

Travellers who test negative will be allowed to quarantine at home under “significantly increase surveillance and enforcement.” The federal government is hiring private security firms to support local police services in that effort. People who test positive are expected to move to a federal facility for a mandatory quarantine.

I'd prefer if they were simply turned away, but this is a reasonable alternative. Granted, I'd prefer ankle bracelets to security guards.

I have no problem with people who flagrantly break laws going to jail. Particularly when they're for such a selfish reason.

They passed mandatory quarantine legislation last year for people returning from out of the country. Unsurprisingly people who leave the country to go on vacation during a pandemic don't think rules apply to them when they come back.

the rules change daily so its no surprise people get caught off guard .there is no need for private contractors to be doing the job of the do nothing rcmp or the do nothing army. they are both already on the payroll and doing sweet bugger all.there is no sudden need to haul citizens off to a federal quarantine facility when for the last year they all quarantined at home

The problem is a lot (subjective term) of them aren't quarantining from home and in cities with actual PD's they already have enough on their plate without adding babysitting duty.

As I said, to me the correct answer is ban non-essential travel, but because our overlords like going on vacation they can't do that.

does this also apply to Canadian citizens? I thought it was in the Canook Bill of Rights that you could come and go from Canada freely?

i have an industry associate who travels in and out of Canada a lot for work. They require a NEG test within 72 hours, but a lot of US cities you can't get results that fast. So he had to fly to Chicago to get a test, wait 24hr there to get his result, then book an ad-hoc flight back to Canada.

Do the private contractors have the right to arrest or detain for non compliance?
