People in Ottawa are under a stay at home order and you claim to know someone coming and going frequently who is not being bound by the same rules that Canadian citizens are, a person who also has no reason to be here. When it's pointed out to you that your friend doesn't need to be here, you get mad instead of explaining why what they're doing can't possibly be sent here through any method other than hand delivery.
why don't they need to be there? they live in Ottawa.

expertise doesn't get boxed up, and some problems require an expert to go to the problem because the problem can't come to the expert.
Some people, their job is being the expert. So....still not sure what point you're trying to make.

other than refusing to acknowledge that you're wrong about the person and the situation.

When someone who lives in Arizona says they have a colleague that travels in and out of Canada frequently, most people would not assume Ottawa is their place of residence hence my confusion

What is he going back and forth for specifically?

other than refusing to acknowledge that you're wrong about the person and the situation.
As usual you don't provide any details and then act surprised when people can't read your thoughts.

so...you made an incorrect assumption.

no problem. and like I said, it's a DND obligation. That's all I'll say on it, and that's probably more than is necessary to understand the situation.

California is stopping moderna vaccinations due to some bad reactions to this completely experimental vaccine

Probably a good thing you guys aren't getting that BS
Their vaccine actually works, seems dumb

Is that proven?
I just thought there was a lack of evidence to date.
The vaccine stimulates the inner antibodies (IgG) in muscle and blood. It does not stimulate IgA, the antibodies covering the outer areas, mouth, nose, throat, etc, which is where transmission happens. That's why the vaccine claim is it's 95% effective in preventing COVID-19 the disease, no mention of preventing the virus.

I personally don't think it keeps you from getting the virus. But I always assume the worst until proven otherwise.

There you go again spouting nonsense. California never stopped Moderna vaccines entirely, only one batch that they later resumed using:

this bugs me from a science guy. there's no evidence that it stops transmission, there's not even a hypothesis of HOW it would stop transmission.

therefore, it doesn't stop transmission. because science.

;)

EDIT: oops - just read Shinkicker @Shinkicker 's comment, didn't mean to pile on.

You're in a thread saying it doesn't. Point blank.

The correct statement is "there isn't data to support it."
And I'd at "yet".

Most vaccines result in a deceased transmission level and it seems strange to be so confident on something actively pending.

That's not true. There are dozens of studies on this exact topic pending right now.
Israelis suggest they see a deceased viral shed which may reduce or stop transmission in their initial role out.

This is a misunderstanding that humoral immunity is the only mechanism here that would prevent transmission.
If all we become is blank surfaces and no longer shed replicated virus, you will see a significant decrease in transmission. IgA or not.

The claims are 95% covid19 prevention because that's what the study was powered for. It was studied to evaluate if individuals develop COVID-19 clinically and if they develop antibodies. Now they are doing transmission studies.

They all mention transmission on every single website. Everyone "we don't know yet". They have not had the powered study done yet. They are currently occurring for every manufacturer.

the correct position is "it doesn't" until someone proves that it does. Or at least publishes research for review.

that's the source of my 'confidence' - not that it's not possible/rational/likely, but I'm confident that there's no data to support making any change to public policy or recommended behaviors, and I think that confidence is well-grounded in Scientific Process and Precautionary Principle.

Because that's the context this always comes up in: "Let's XYZ because there's a vaccine now"

So Trudeau cancels flights to sun destinations, risking the collapse of canadian airlines. Meanwhile flights to and from other destinations, such as China and Dubai remain open.
Now forced isolation regardless of test results when returning to canada. $2000 at your own expense mind you. Then 14 day quarantine at home, while 3rd party security contractors (I imagine that's on us tax payers dime) check up on you daily.
This timeline licks bag.

My wife tested negative 3 weeks in a row after being in close contact for multiple weeks with covid positive people.

Just 1 data point but interesting.

But Trudeau can say he solved climate change by grounding flights ?
who are the Canadians that back this policy? I don't know every Canadian, but literally every Canadian I know says this is bullshit.

moose shit.

whatever.
