Texas right now:
i can only think of one time the school has ever closed here due to snow. never happened when i went to school and only once in my kids life . it can be -30c and school is open. there can be 2 ft of snow and the school is open. vancouver is soft and they close the schools all the time though. a half inch of snow shuts them down pretty good. they are used to having flowers bloom at this time of the year
do you have snow shovels or ice melt for your driveway? those things always go fast when the shit hits the fan
I have shovels, but I don’t think my local Home Depot even sells ice melt. At least I’ve never seen it there. People here will use bags of salt pellets normally used for water softeners.
i used softener salt before. it works in a pinch and is dirt cheap compared to ice melter .it doesnt dissolve very good but it lasts forever

We just got new plumbing a few months ago. Some kind of new thing, so hopefully we’ll be all good. The plumber also put insulation around it when he installed it.

Fancy overpriced salt sold for driveways, sidewalks, etc.
I remember it from my Illinois days, but don’t think I’ve ever seen it here.
