Diego Sanchez says he's 'free at last' following UFC release (UPDATED)

So as soon as you go into a debate with the UFC, they release you since the fighters opinion dont mean shit to them.

Highly unsympathetic move, I will make sure to mute the commentary next time Felder is on or Olivi for that sake. This company is turning into a totalitarian state, where the slightest inconvenience will get you released or fired ASAP.

I do wonder though, if Sanchez trainer started that whole argument so he could get Diego released, that might be the only way out of the contract, to piss off some of the broadcasting team.

Sounded like Angela Hill was the one speaking when the group off camera started to put Fabian in his place, then Anik acts like peace-maker before Olivi shuts him down nicely.

I don’t think Dana is being completely honest here. I think he’s just trying to frame it as simply, Diego and his crazy coach won’t say that he’s medically fight to fit, and that’s the issue.

With the asking for old medical records, I wouldn’t be surprised if Fabia is trying to put together a lawsuit for Diego’s CTE. That would be where the money is.

Diego’s contract was cancelled because an attorney working on his behalf “couldn’t confirm his health wasn’t compromised”. Seems to me they are afraid signing off on his health would hurt them in their incoming CTE suit. Asking for the past medical records would be their way of establishing a timeline proving his brain damage occurred during his UFC career.

Dana is shook.

all Of Diego’s medical records and ufc records are subject to subpoena. They don’t need to ask the ufc for them, they can have the court system require production. The UFC is also well aware of the cte issue and has for years. Their attorneys will be some of the best, they likely have insurance to cover costs and doubt that they were shook by these fools. I don’t know why everyone just hates on the UFC. The UFC is a business and wants to make money. The fighters are in this business and can choose the UFC, One, Bellator, etc as there fight promoters. The fighters get what the market requires. Sure the UFC and Dana made a fortune promoting mma, and they nearly lost millions but for Dana figuring out how to promote the sport. I am thankful for the UFC and all the joy the promotion and fighters have provided over the years. Stop hating just because Dana has the millions we all wish we had, he earned it.

Diego is a shadow of the former fighter we all grew to love (or hate). When he chicken shitted the Pereira fight and took a dq win when he knew he was going to get his ass beat if he continued the fight, I lost all respect for what was left of him as a fighter. He should have retired years ago and got a job training with young fighters and not getting hit in the head. Diego, you’re in the hall of fame, enjoy retirement. oh and cerone would have beat the shit out of him. i think the shit talking really pissed off cerrone and his plan was pain for Diego. Diego and his managers probably saw the ugly end and found a way to get out of the fight. goodbye, stop hating on the UFC and don’t let the door hit you in the ass, it will likely cause more brain damage.

I’m not “hating” on anyone. There is more to this story. There has to be a reason why Diego’s camp wouldn’t sign off on his not being medically compromised. I’m wondering if there was some language used in whatever the fighters sign absolving the UFC of any liability which made Diego’s lawyer decide he shouldn’t sign off. I’m just asking questions. I have a mind like a steel trap and I’m curious like a cat.

I think they knew Cerrone was going to put a major ass kicking on Diego and wanted an excuse to get out of the fight. The lawyer saying he is not a doctor and can’t opine is lame. I am a lawyer, if that was a question that needed to be answered and for fighter safety yes it does, then I would have my client seen by a medical doctor and opine with a medical opinion. Cop out Bull Sheet is what this is, just like the bs Diego pulled at the Pereira fight. He is a washed up fighter and not the fighter we used to love watching. Time to move on. UFC RULES. Best mma fight promoter with the best fighters overall of any promotion. I like bellator and One, but they are not any where near UFC level in terms of overall breadth of fighters. They all have their stars, but overall UFC is the best. And no I am not a paid performer for the UFC nor an investor. Well to my knowledge I am not an investor, I will have to ask my bookie, I mean stock investor. Peace out.
