When John Prine covers your song, you know you wrote a good one...

Hell yeah. Merle Haggard also said Blaze was one of the best songwriters he’d ever heard. Also high praise. When John Prine covers your song, you know you wrote a good one...
It’s great, I think you’ll enjoy it. That album was my intro to blaze probably almost 20 years ago or so. Lots of good songs. Our little town is one of my favorites- sad but beautiful. And Officer Norris is humorous. I enjoy his banter between songs too.Pulled right up on Spotify. I've heard some of his stuff but not this album. I'll give it a listen while working on the screened porch today.

Damn. Didn't know any of that. It’s great, I think you’ll enjoy it. That album was my intro to blaze probably almost 20 years ago or so. Lots of good songs. Our little town is one of my favorites- sad but beautiful. And Officer Norris is humorous. I enjoy his banter between songs too.
he was basically a homeless alcoholic, that would couch surf or sleep at the bars he played at. Sometimes had to even borrow a guitar so he could go play somewhere. Sadly he was murdered in Austin while crashing on a friend’s couch while they were out of town. Someone broke in in the middle of the night and Blaze tried to defend the house, but was shot by the intruder.
You talkin' about Blaze couch-surfing reminded me of Snider's intro to Devil's Backbone. It’s great, I think you’ll enjoy it. That album was my intro to blaze probably almost 20 years ago or so. He was a wild dude for sure. I was infatuated with his story and music when I first discovered him. He’s a legit legend/icon in Austin.Damn. Didn't know any of that.
Sad shit.
Haha, that’s great. His description of Luchenbach is spot on - it is comically small. But because of that one song, it’s the stuff of legend. He’s totally right about easily missing it, and people totally steal the road signs lol.You talkin' about Blaze couch-surfing reminded me of Snider's intro to Devil's Backbone.
Fucking hilarious - and it talks about Luckenbach which I'm sure you've been to - assuming you already knew how to find it without the use of road signs

Very true. I've been enjoying new old things from back when. This “all the years“ YouTube channel has released some great stuff ?
I can do that pinky from D, but it’s not the most natural for my hand. Easier if I’m playing up the neck with a capo.Trying to learn Tyler's Country Squire song and was cheating by watching some live performances.
WTF is up with his pinky finger? Thing is long as fuck. There's no way I can make that stretch and still hold the D chord.

I guess I'll just fake it like I always do.
Love the song though...

So you're a pinky freak too?I can do that pinky from D, but it’s not the most natural for my hand. Easier if I’m playing up the neck with a capo.
my pinky has gotten a lot more useful over the years, but it’s still an uncoordinated idiot sometimes ?. I’ve been slowly trying to work on some new chord shapes outside of the standard first position or barre chord shapes. Some of them are insane, particularly with the pinky.
Right on, that’s a special album for me. It’s one I’ve listened to a lot over the years. I used to play Our Little Town with my brother. And Clay pigeons, but tons of people play that one.So you're a pinky freak too?
Got it.
Diggin the Blaze live album, btw.
Were you able to make it all the way through....any favorites? "Officer Norris" is another one I really like. And I'm always a fan of the banter in between songs on live albums like this.So you're a pinky freak too?

I had it playing in the garage but was working outside so I caught it in sections. It's good though. Will definitely need to listen to it all the way through uninterupted. Were you able to make it all the way through....any favorites? "Officer Norris" is another one I really like.
