Wood still good enough to harvest/salvage? That should be a good chunk, would be cool to make something out of for your new place ?
Yup. Wood should be good. I don't see any rot.
I plan to mill it. No clue what I'll make just yet. I'm sure the wife will think of something. Haha.

We just had a big storm and I found a baby Robin that had been blown out of it’s nest. I corralled him and have him in my garage to keep him safe. I think we might have taken a pretty hard knock because he was pretty dazed when I found him.

I thought I had gotten a worm into him, but when I studied the video in my library I clearly didn’t. Listen to him. The guy snaps like a god damned crocodile. It spooked me and I fumbled my chance. I’m going to raise him up strong. His name is Moreno and he’s a fighter just like me.

I made him a worm smoothie.

When I went to check on him this morning he was on a higher perch than where I left him last night. I opened the garage door and he flew out. As he flew over the driveway, he looked back at me. I could see a tear in his eye.

I'm pretty sure that's the moment he imprinted on you.

So basically - You're telling me you murdered a worm and shoved his guts into a syringe for no reason.

Red-bellied woodpecker helping himself to the hummingbird feeder. The hummers weren't happy about it.

I like how red-bellies can be identified by their red......head

I just saw one of those down here the other day while surveying a property. I saw a second pecker as well that I think was a ladder-backed woodpecker.

We have pileated, downy, and red-bellied in my area (aside from sapsuckers, which are also woodpeckers). Pileated are the prettiest but also the rarest. Downy are tiny and shy. Red-bellied are the coolest imo. They don't take shit from any other birds their size.

Also I read that they're named red-bellied because red-headed was already taken by another woodpecker species.
