Kinda, it's used in this way here for the rhyme.

But it can mean more than that, like an innkeeper or generally a host, even in the biological sense where you for example have a parasite and a host.

I was trying to back my way into it.

I assumed "nichts" was the negative
I already knew what "wer" was.
I assumed "wird" was the action since it was listed twice
So I deducted "wirt" was bartender. Plus you capitalized it.

I basically speak German now.

Good job actually, since the grammar is different between the languages in that small sentence already.
Just word by word it would mean:

Who nothing becomes, becomes barkeeper.

Which makes no sense obviously.
