Part of this is because there are very few news segments anymore and mostly the things that get talked about and promoted the most are the opinion shows. Whether it's Maddow or Tucker or Cuomo or Cavuto or Hannity... They are opinion shows that are presented as the news. The few actual news segments that are ran on the networks are generally pretty good and relatively free from bias. The volume on the bias is turned down at least. But for every half hour of news there's 6 hours of screaming infants making things up as they go and they're not beholden to facts because it's all just opinions and talking points. Those are the shows that sell advertising because that's what people tune in for. And it's a bummer. Because what's being called out as fake news isn't even really news. It's millionaires making shit up as they go and basing it loosely on facts to fit the story they are trying to tell.

News is not entertainment.

The fact that most of the population requires their "news" to be entertainment, is a HUGE part of the problem. News isn't entertainment, it shouldn't need over the top graphics everywhere and huge glitzy sets and blonde chicks showing off their legs and everyone shouting all the time.

I said that the "fake news" crowd eschews actual news in favour of posting a lot of memes which are lies, or "news" from conspiracy blogs which are flat out garbage and entirely disconnected from reality.

Just look at the absolute shit that sparkuri posts. Next time you see him post a link, click on the source. You are all but guaranteed to find some ridiculous lying shit on the front page - "FBI documents reveal that the Clintons paid to have Seth Rich murdered!" was yesterday's example.

1) No media outlets are free from bias, they are run by humans and humans are terrible at removing bias. Additionally, the Fox model has demonstrated that bias is VASTLY more profitable than neutrality

2) Apparently the standard you demand is perfection, or else everything they publish is worthless no matter what - this is a binary stance

3) There are significant problems with bias in the media

4) A lot of the problems with the bias and the lying and the dominance of "opinion" over "reporting" can be traced directly back to the repeal of the Fairness Doctrine, which no right winger here will ever discuss

5) Fox is objectively, demonstrably worse than CNN, this is the simple reality and you will not be honest enough to concede it

6) For all their faults, CNN and MSNBC are FAR more honest and FAR more concerned about journalistic integrity than the likes of the Gateway Pundit or the American Thinker, which are the kind of braindead lying cesspools that the "fake news!" crowd constantly links to.
