And your premise that Kabul fall = regime collapse is also overly simplistic. The regime will have effectively collapsed once it is no capable of projecting power outside Kabul.
But I am happy to start the clock once the US makes it clear that it is actually evacuating its troops and we can be confident in the timeline. Obviously the Taliban can't, and won't even try to, overrun any significant US forces in Kabul.
The danger is part of the attraction. You have a very small window of time to get in before they pass their expiry date.
And you have to overcome their Medusa-like quality of having 600 male cousins with them at all times who will stab you the moment you look at them.
