Got 60 cloves of garlic planted over the weekend.

Still 42 bulbs left for eating from this years harvest.

Easiest crops ever. Least amount of work and always a consistent crop.

If you are looking for something for winter maintenance, I cannot say enough good things about this line of liquid fertilizers:

1/4 tsp per gallon of water is all you need for maintenance. In the spring you can up that to 1 tsp per gallon for growth.

They also sell 1 gallon bottles for around $55. More expensive than your typical plant food but you get what you pay for. It is worth every penny in my experience. Despite two "cold fronts" I've yet to lose a single leaf on my citrus tree.

Recently moved into our new home. We now have four spectate plots each about 4x8’. One is all raspberries, another raspberry, blueberry, and Lilly’s , another is mini roses and the last is cannabis. I think next year I’ll dedicate one plot to grow garlic, tomatoe, cilantro, peppers and whatever I else I’ll put into salsa. The raspberries already bother me because of how messy they have to be. I want an orderly garden that either provides things I can eat, smell or smoke.

I suspect your temps are finally good for tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, squash to start growing and getting established

Heat wave down in the south willamette valley...80 degrees at 10PM

Assuming your area has a bit of some warm temps.

..actually those starts are watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew melon & banana melon.

Last year we trained our melons and squash on vertical cattle fence for the first time, was very productive and they didn't take over as much square footage

Cattle fence/Hog fence can be secured with a light or med T post or even bamboo stake, I use that type of 4 foot fence set-up for logan berries, marionberries, melon, pole beans, snap peas, squash(eating pumpkins and others), and even tomatoes.
I run the cucumbers on a 7-8 foot vertical A frame shape pyramid that I make from cutting a 16 foot hog fence in to a 8 foot and a 7 foot section.

Not really trying to sell you on that style of gardening, but in my experience Hog fence is a great way to make easy structures for all types of garden stuff. It can do so many things. Hog fence is 6-8" squares, Sheep panel is 4x4" squares(keeps my cats in), and utility panel is 2"x4" (not needed and spendy), Priced according to galvanized steel content of course. Doesn't really rust so I am using the same stuff for 14+ yrs now.

I acquired some TESC fencing from a construction site, probably about 150'.
I rip the fabric off to line raised beds & line the compost pins to filter water but keep organic matter.
I use the wire for trussels for the beans and vine food.

I used those poles in the past for vines, grabbing them from an old video projector outdoor screen & zip tied everything to thread.

My tomatoes last year were ridiculous.
Made salsa, tomato sauce etc. , canned it all and stuck it in a storage unit in Idaho in case shtf(when) so I can cross the border on "business" on title.
That apple tree is a personal unreal harvest.
Canned apple butter, apple sauce, apple cider vinegar, apple jam, apple jelly, and vacuum sealed apple slices & apple chips.
And of course pickled cucumbers, peppers, onions...
And stocked it with flour, sugar, baking soda, medical...& a bunch of shtf crap.

Bought a Hatch pepper plant yesterday, need to get that planted today. It already has some peppers going ?

the wife and I love Hatch season, our grocery store has all kinds of shit made with them. This will last for about 3 weeks, or until they run out.

I have already bought hatch cheddar loaf, hatch bacon, salsas, some roasted peppers, Jack cheese with hatch, hatch guacamole, hatch queso, hatch hummus, and a hatch apple pie. Over the next couple of weeks I will be sampling more of the goodies. The grocery store has all kinds of pre made stuff with hatch, and they use them in their restaurant too. Lots of other local restaurants use them during the season.

We have been making jalapeño/cucumber relish so far, did a batch last week and doing one tonight...not that spicy but really good on meat/fish/chicken.

We just finished up some of the sauces we bought from down there last year when you spoke of those Chiles. Very good and gave us good ideas to use our peppers.

Our summer has been hot nights and some of our pepper plants are approaching 4 feet tall with huge yields.

Roasted peppers are so damn tasty.

Our summer has been hot nights and some of our pepper plants are approaching 4 feet tall with huge yields.

I have had those, my brother likes to throw those on the grill as a side veggie if we’re cooking out. They’re pretty good, and relatively mild. I don’t seek after the insanely hot peppers, but I do like an appropriate amount of heat. The hatch can be mild, or fairly spicy (but not crazy). The store has both options to buy fresh, and also for the ones they roast. But almost all of the food they make with them uses the spicy ones. I have no idea which one my plant will have. But I have plenty of Texas sun for it to cook under while they grow.
I already have 6 or 7 going on the plant. This thing will take off when I transfer it and give it some food/water and fresh soil.

my wife always makes hatch infused tequila for spicy margaritas. She usually make multiple bottles and issues it out to friends. It’s pretty awesome in spite of tequila not really being my thing. The batch she made last year was pretty fucking hot, but works well with the sweetness of a margarita

What kind of peppers did you plant. I drew a few different things depending on what kind of peppers they are
I have 20 Jalepeno plants(started 50 from seed and couldn't give em all away so just planted 20 in a bed, producing like mad)
2 Padron
2 Anaheim
2 red bell, 1 orange bell, 1 golden italian
1 carmen(hatch chile variety I think)
2 poblano
3 thai chile plants
2 shishito(no spice just good pan/grill fried and eaten, also used in Chili recipes)
1 Mareko Fana, 1 Aji Lemon, 1 Aleppo(some middle eastern/african varieties that I just threw in and they are huge now)

I can also get great peppers at the farmer's market here for cheap.

My wife just got home from her spin class, so we’re about to have a breakfast taco brunch. We have hatch bacon, tortillas, guacamole, salsa, and hot sauce. Hatch everything ? it’s the best.

When i get off work I will try to give a rundown. Its pretty simple and I just season to taste. My neighbor told me about a peach Haboneros sauce he made so thats on the list to try this year

It was time to upgrade my calamansi to a bigger pot. It had stalled out in the one it has been in. Went up to a 16” from a 12”, and it’s 3-4 inches deeper too. We’ll see if it takes off again and fills out. I’m curious if this one will ever flower/fruit.

I was late putting them in the ground but they’re looking great so far. No issues with bugs or disease either. Topped them twice but they keeping going up over the fence.

Stains are Mimosa, Blueberry Grape Vine, Northern Lights and Sour Diesel. Nothing but BCs fantastic air, sun and water has gone into them. Next year I’ll do two plants per plot as four is crowded.
