Bravely punishing teachers because the schools have a great desire to protect them.
Brilliant stuff, GOP, muh freedoms as anti vaxers drop like flies telling everyone else to avoid the fly swatter.

Mask mandates to protect vaccinated teachers? How does that track?

Because you can be vaccinated against a virus and still contract and spread it.
Schools are taking extreme precautions that are meant to protect themselves legally and the children's health. Does that track?

Common question
Can you still spread Covid if you are vaccinated?

Only a small portion of vaccinated individuals end up contracting the disease, though you still can. If contracted, there is still a chance of spreading it to others, which could be extremely dangerous if the household is immunocompromised or unvaccinated.

Not really, no.
I can spell it out.
Vaccinated people can still contract a virus. That virus can be spread around to others. Masks help mitigate that.
The schools don't want to face any lawsuit: "My child got covid and went on a vent, we want compensation."
"The school knew there was a risk and did nothing to stop it."
That shit will happen if even one person gets sick, because in situations like this that could've been prevented (with very little inconvenience I would add), one is enough.

You know how blood thirsty lawyers are.

That's fair, but protecting the schools from lawsuits is very different from protecting the teachers.

Yet they're all in agreement with those you do like.
We're all gonna be selling snake oil in the end, if we're lucky.
Remember Socrates.

Under the FDA’s new plan, the director of FDA’s biologics center, Peter Marks, will largely oversee review of the Pfizer application, taking over for Marion Gruber, a 32-year veteran of the FDA who currently heads the office of vaccine research and review within the larger biologics center, according to a second FDA source. A third source familiar with the plan, who like the others spoke on condition of anonymity, said Marks was heavily involved in the review, but did not comment on whether he was formally replacing Gruber in the agency’s chain of command.

I'm using generic verbage that is not accurate to what the FDA calls uses. Thanks. Moderna requested a few weeks after Pfizer.
I'd expect both to be approved in the next couple months.

That's interesting about the changes. I didn't know that. Could be stacking the deck for the corporate reasons (we've seen that) or could be totally normal given that that is a unique time, given that he is the department head, and that apparrently his wing is responsible for certifying vaccines under their usual scope:

Biologics in this case is from 1902 and does not imply the drug classes we think of with the term now.
No I didn't know which wing of the FDA is responsible for vaccines until I looked it up.

RIP Marion and Phil.

From other articles it sounds like CDC and ACIP were given Biden admin priority and deemphasized the FDA role
I got that, Gruber at least, was pissed that the Biden administration said boosters were to start by a certain date. Implying that the FDA would approve and given a short deadline to do so.

However, Mr Splinty, I have been digging and I think Gruber and Krause are frustrated by much more than that. Hopefully we will get a tell all after they retire. Or a better researcher and journalist will get to the bottom of it, because I had 10 windows open and was speed reading.

I saved a few articles and will get into it deeper when I have more time. But it looks like in the vaccine committee meeting on June 10, 2021 there were some hard questions being asked and someone called on Gruber to answer. She pretty much shut it down and said those questions didn't need to be asked there (or maybe at that time) and would be discussed with the vaccine manufacturers. (I Need to go back to find out what the questions were)

Then interestingly, I found a paper published June 23, 2021 by Krause and many co-authors, one being Gruber about SARS-COV-2 variants and vaccines. Again, I only skimmed but it sounded like Krause is not happy with the way the studies and trials are being conducted, or rather he detailed how he thought they should be done. He also addresses some other issues about vaccines and variants.

With the standard disclaimer that it was not the views of his employers, of course.

Lol

Again, with my skimming, I got the impression that he thinks the vaccine should be modified to the new variants. He believes continuing to distribute the vaccine as it is now may be doing harm (he can't tell because the right data isn't being collected). May explain why he and Gruber were so frustrated about the booster being announced.

Verbal and physical attacks on health workers surge as emotions boil during latest COVID-19 wave
Visitors and patients assaulting hospital staff “was an epidemic before the pandemic — it was just silent to the public,” she added. “Health care workers have been dealing with this for years, and it’s become more pronounced with the COVID pandemic.”

The pandemic-related rise in tensions across the U.S. is not unique to the hospital industry. Airlines are reporting an increase in aggressive passengers as flight attendants take self-defense classes. Police are reporting an increase in violent crime and road rageincidents.
