Yesterday somebody asked me, "what's your trade?"

I immediately guffawed.
"Please sir, I'm a professional"

As I walked away leaving him with his jaw on the floor, the on looking crowd began a slow clap that slowly turned into a thunderous roar.

He'll never confuse me for a tradesman again.
Think of it this way

when the government records how many
Medical doctors are licensed within its jurisdiction, it doesn’t file them under “skilled tradespeople.” Because they are medical professionals. When we as a society talk of things such as labour shortages in the skilled trades, we Are never talking about medical professionals. Of course you are highly skilled, but the amount of academic vigour that it takes to become a professional like a doctor distinguishes the two classes of professions.

Oh you don't have to tell me. I am professionally listening to you.

Ever since you pointed out tradesmen I have absolutely forgotten that trade and occupation are synonyms.

I am actively removing my entire southern dialect as we speak and replacing it with apologies loonies and toonies.

I will be your father once again don't you worry. I'm sorry also I love poutine.

I wouldn't trade you for the world. Your occupation of my heart and mind are only outdone but your occupation of Palestine. I will employ every mechanism when making a profession of my love for you, son.

I'm sorry. Would you like to go get a double double?

Looks good man. Did you use 2 layers of bending plywood or double up 1/4 pri or something like that? Sometimes that can be a bitch to keep it from cracking out when you bend it.

Could you describe the guffaw?
Was it more like a chortle or a snigger?

What is a double double?

And are nanaimo bars any good?

??
It's how some people order their coffee at Tim Hortons, a canadian coffee/doughnut franchise.
The place strictly used to be a small, in store baked doughnut shop. Now it's just a big corporation, fast food joint with shit coffee and shit food.
It has deep roots in canadianity (fuck I hate that word) and some Canadians wear the right to say 'double double' and 'timmies' like it's a badge of honour.

Nanaimo bars are tasty , but really really sweet. They're named after the city where I was born.

Tim Hortons was started by a hockey player who died early and then his family missed out on the mega-franchise money, right?

Canadian Starbucks, is my understanding?

All I know is it sold for $11 billion to Burger King
Which is Hungry Jack's in Australia - because when Burger King came to Australia, there was already a guy running a Burger King. They wanted to buy him out, he told them "you can have everything but the name, I might want to come back and run anther one later." They told him "well, actually the name is all we want out of it." He told them oh well, in that case I guess you can go fuck yourselves.

So the American corporates gave the Australian franchisee a list of potential names, and he chose a brand of pancake mix named Hungry Jack, and made it possessive. Now there are Hungry Jack's everywhere, all over the country, and Burger King is gone.

Beef plant. Was doing Jarvis saw for A shift today. We make a break at the rib eye and chuck. Weren't running to bad today. 375 head an hour. Now I got to do my shift for another 8 and half hours. But unfortunately no easy money like the saw.

I had a summer job bonking the cows on the head with a sledge hammer once. I was really good at it
