Uh oh.
The drag of an interest payment, our reserve currency status, deficit and debt being run at times of economic hardship... I'm aware of all of the pieces, but don't know if there is a general consensus on why or why not worry about this, or at which point a high debt harms us.
I've read many inputs over the years but they seem mostly political and not necessarily economist and I don't have the background to have an understanding if there's a general consensus.

Maybe. Singapore Portugal or Italy would be consideration. Would need ocean and good internet to telemed.
I don't think most people would though unless they had access to an international job that afforded an above average income for the local economy.

One of my army buddies had his Jeep stolen by the Carabinieris. They kept the racket going wanting more and more money to get it out of impound always changing the fees.

my agree flair was to support what i believe the point of the post to be, namely, highlighting that americas debt is not some anomoly as corporate politicians against the reconciliation bill would like people to believe
the debt doesnt ever have to be paid off. and the credit card analogy is flawed since humans cant print their own money whereas the government can
high-level, increasing the debt for tax cuts to the rich is very, very unproductive
but increasing the debt to finance physical and social infratructure is productive
Well, to put it really simply. Anyone who speaks English is seen as a walking cash machine. Couple that with their public healthcare system meaning you'll take a massive paycut your purchasing power is also going to go down the toilet. Those trucks you like driving? Yeah, say goodbye to those. I'm not going to say you couldn't make it work, but it would be a huge sacrifice to your lifestyle. That's ignoring that you're still a target by virtue of being American.
When government's print money the value of the existing money is diminished.

Well that lines up pretty well with my experience. I wasn't sure if My buddy was being targeted because he's army and hate us cuz they anus, Or if it's the typical American equals rich so take advantage of him.
Brits and Canadians get the same treatment so don't take it too personally. Tourists gonna tourist.
