Our results provide support for high effectiveness of BNT162b2 against hospital admissions up until around 6 months after being fully vaccinated, even in the face of widespread dissemination of the delta variant. Reduction in vaccine effectiveness against SARS-CoV-2 infections over time is probably primarily due to waning immunity with time rather than the delta variant escaping vaccine protection.

....

Overall vaccine effectiveness against infection with the delta variant for the fully vaccinated was 75% (95% CI 71–78), while overall vaccine effectiveness for other variants was 91% (88–92; appendix pp 9–10). Estimates against both delta and other variants were high within 1 month after full vaccination (vaccine effectiveness against delta 93% [95% CI 85–97] vs other variants 97% [95–99]; p=0·29). At 4 months after full vaccination, vaccine effectiveness against delta infections declined to 53% (95% CI 39–65) and vaccine effectiveness against other variants declined to 67% (45–80; p=0·25). The difference in rate of decline in vaccine effectiveness between delta and other variants was not significant (p=0·30). For specimens in which a sequence could not be determined, adjusted vaccine effectiveness after full vaccination declined from 84% [95% CI 78–88]) at less than 1 month to 47% (30–59) after 4 months (figure 3; appendix pp 10–11). Among the fully vaccinated, vaccine effectiveness against hospital admissions was 93% (95% CI 84–96) for delta and 95% (90–98) for other variants

Shots run out of steam. Delta Probably a minor component of overall vaccine effectiveness decrease (this is not a study on transmission, But rather effectiveness of preventing hospitalization or death).

Breakthrough cases increase over time.

Those breakthrough cases lead to hospitalization significantly less in the vaccinated than the unvaccinated. Even in the face of Delta. Even with decreased overall effectiveness in preventing breakthrough cases.

i dont know the data. but if there are more deaths despite 70% being vaccinated, then it speaks to how much more deadly the new strand is (assuming the deaths are largely occuring in the unvaccinated)

i havent gotten the evil jab yet. i work 7 days a week. as soon as i take a day off, i hope that i will get it (sunday or monday fingers crossed)

but in truth, once i get a day off, i will probably read for pleasure from the second i wake up until i cant keep my eyes open lol (addictive personality)
The new strand is supposed to be less deadly but more contagious.

take it with a grain of salt since i've never met a smart canadian, but according to this canadian study, delta is 133% more deadly

Stop pretending I wasn’t one of the first people on this site to get the shot. Stop pretending you have any idea what the majority of the country has had to deal with. And most importantly stop pretending I give a fuck what a Florida teacher thinks.

more contagious means that it can infect people with higher risk factors, even if the object lethality of the virus through COVID is less.

Of course they give that quack a documentary. He is objectively one of the biggest liars in modern history, has profited considerably. All he does is lie, lie, and lie. Never once has he said something that is remotely truthful. But of course the Biden administration keeps propping him up like he’s some sort of savior.
Your attitude is a breath of fresh air.

@Splinty

Can I ask you a medical question please?

My son is 3. I got home from work today and opened a letter addressed to him. It said, in bold type face that he is due a flu jab. It needs to be done soon.

Then went on to say flu is a very dangerous infection etc.

But I don't recall me ever getting such a letter ever.

Don't get me wrong. I am booked for my flu jab on the 20th of October. I see the sense in that. I have mild asthma from hay-fever so I don't want a horrible flu. Plus flu sucks.

But a 3 year old? I wasn't aware this is now government policy. I work in an environment that allows me information. I haven't heard of this.

Can you tell me if that's standard procedure in your country?

Its not a scam. Its a genuine government, NHS offer.

But would you class that as normal?

I'm not anti vacc. But I've never heard of a 3 year old getting a flu jab.

What do you think of this please.
