Such snowflakes that Hollywood celebrities and smug liberals trigger them into reflexively voting against their own self-interests. For generations.

??
You mean like voting DEM year over year despite situations NEVER improving for the underprivileged?

Empty promises.
DC doesn't give a shit about any of their constituents.

Child poverty rates have dropped under Biden have they not?

Not really.

Unless dishing out bennies is the new platform. Have they rolled out any sweeping changes that will have a lasting, positive effect?
Red states dishing out bennies to those who refuse to get vaccinated will pull many out of poverty.

child tax credit was raised from 2k to 3k. and would have been extended, but manchin shut that down

I don't have kids so I don't know.
Is that a speculative figure or one that was actually initiated?

Again. Temporarily. Unless policy moves the needle, bennies are a bandaid that hides a still-present problem.
Temporary socialism for the red states doesn’t make you a full on commie?

No such thing as a half way commie! They shook.

Also, assuming every cent of that figure goes to food for the kid - that extra $1k computes to $2.74/day

Not sure that moves the needle.

Reform would be something like eliminating the Social Security Tax limit and putting the extra dollars collected from those making over $150k/yr (or whatever it is now) and using those funds to help the underprivileged.

As is, once folks hit $150/k (+/-) the social security deduct is turned off. Someone making $150/k (+/-) a year pays the same amount into social security as someone making $8 million/yr.

I'm sure Splinty @Splinty would be fine with it.

The child benefits are not short term are they?
I don't know.

My assumption was that the report of "Biden drastically lowered child poverty" was a smoke and mirrors claim due to bennies bringing families above the established poverty line.

Purely speculative on my part.

The child bennies are here to stay.

Never mind, Manchin killing the BBB will also kill the child bennies. Thanks Joe!

On Sunday, Sen. Joe Manchin, the conservative Democrat from West Virginia, said that he would not support the Biden administration's $1.75 trillion Build Back Better agenda, likely killing the bill and with it the extension of the enhanced child tax credit.

Without the enhanced credit, nearly 10 million children are at risk of falling back below the poverty line or slipping even deeper into poverty, according to an analysis from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, a progressive think tank.

It lowered child poverty levels.

Let’s go Brandon.
We'll see how those levels are in 2 or 3 years. Temporary Covid Bennies have likely muddied the reports. Inflation will have a negative impact as well. People who were in poverty will likely - sadly - find themselves in the exact same situation in the near future.
