Infamously Michael Rockefeller left his stranded boat in 1961. Never to be seen again. The last photo of him is this with a cannibalistic tribe assumed to have eaten him when he went missing.
This has been the assumption and repeated for 50 years.
But about 9 years after this photo was taken, national geographic was in the area filming the tribe from a distance. And they saw this...
A lone European man rowing the boats along with all of the tribesmen.
Perhaps Michael Rockefeller wasn't eaten, but instead joined the tribe for the rest of his days.
