Zelensky will likely survive no matter what happens. The 'stay in the capital' thing is for morale, they'll get him out to Lviv if the walls close in.

Can't rule out that he gets got before they can get him out but not likely.
I like to imagine him having a secret network of travel tunnels that connect him to other major cities in Ukraine but it's probably just a couple of really tough bodyguards and some dark tints on a 2013 Toyota 4Runner.

This is probing and information gathering right now, by both sides. Touchy feely stuff.

i do declare
My assessment of the situation is perhaps ever so slightly compromised by the fact that I have absolutely no idea what the fuck I am talking about.

Man: Hello, Irina? [beat] Hello?

Irina: Yes, listening, yes?

Man: Good evening, this is Ukraine bothering you at this time of night. You work in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation?

Irina: No.

Man: How is it "no"? Irinochka (cute version of Irina, said with demeaning tone), you have a very big hello from Kyiv. A very big hello from Chernobyl/Ternopil(?), and from Lviv. And Kharkiv! Are you planning on taking your prisoners and corpses back? There's over 2000 corpses spread out over our Ukrainian land, sullying them. Are you going to take the corpses back?

Irina: What's going on with you, my Ukrainian comrades?

Man: What are these soldiers doing on my soil?

Irina: [hangs up]

Man: Ah, what a little bitch.

“Basically he tells his father that he got captured who asks if he's for real, he answers yes and says they need to figure something out. Then the phone is handed to his mom, she asks where he is, he is instructed to tell her where he is, he says Ukraine and they went there because they were told. They didn't know anything.

He doesn't know what to do, she's asking him. She asks him if he's by himself, who he went there with. He responds everyone went. She goes everyone went and only you got caught? He says I don't know, she asks where he is and what to do again and he says angrily, I don't know! It closes off with instruction to tell his parents to call the commanders of the Russian army (assuming to tell them to stand down.)”

“The Ukrainian says that if they want to live, they should drop their gear and come to his house with raised arms. He will then lock them in a barn and will wait for the Ukrainian military to pick them up. If they do anything funny, he will shoot them.

The Russian says that they never meant for any of this and are shocked by what's happening.”
We could very well be looking at the collapse of the Putin regime rather than the Ukrainian regime.

Can't win the war because so many Russians don't want to fight Ukrainians and then once you lose the war, you lose even the people who were fine with it, because failed wars play terribly in authoritarian societies and your economy is in ruins.

But the thing Ukrainians civilians should be worried about is that if the Russians can't rely on their soldiers they will sub in more bombs.

They will turn Kiev into Aleppo

apparently Russia has 280,000 active ground troops. Ukraine between 190-250,000. So this is getting interesting.

To be honest

I feel bad for both sides...I don't imagine all of them Russian soldiers want to be doing this shit but they are ordered too.

What do they do? Cross the border and lay down arms?

So many lives lost for a cunt who sits safely in his hiding spot.

Whatever....I never get involved in these threads because I can't make an intelligent argument for war.
