Apparently those stories about China turning on Russia turned out to be balderdash. US not happy with the response they got, which apparently was 'sure, we'll help you with Russia...if you give us Taiwan'.
People are reading in to the fact that China is not agreeing to Russia requests for weapons - yet - but I didn't see any analyst before the war that thought they would get that involved in the first place.
Indeed. Although reading this article it seems to be all about Xi. The lower orders want nothing to do with Russia and Putin.

If they do this then it's clear they are our enemies and need to be treated as such. We will have to wean ourselves off their cheap plastic and electricals. It should be done anyway on a point of principle in regard to human rights. We can do this over a decade. But it should be done.
You're right. The solution to being too reliant on others is to make yourself more reliant. Ffs.My largest policy mistake was being against TPP. It would have outsourced a bunch more low skilled jobs from the United States to Southeast Asia. And I was in an area at that time where people were losing this jobs. I saw the result and had my finger on the pulse but how it hurt these people without much education. Bernie Sanders, Trump, and eventually Hillary all were against TPP. I was pleased.
The bigger game is that these jobs are going to go anyway and TPP just accelerated it while creating a bloc against China holding cheap manufacturing hostage and IP infringement.
We increasingly need to diversify our supply lines and this was never more apparent then during COVID when everybody realized that we get huge portions of critical health care items from one country with no backup plan and a disaster.
