Watched both Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick.

PB is a classic. Simple characters; an anti-hero, a pilot, a bounty hunter, and "a girl everyone else thought was a boy". There's a nice ticking clock element, leading to a heroic sacrifice as redemption for the pilot. I love scifi, and this is mostly a slow burn, which is great. 8/10

Chronicals... more complicated. Over-ambitious. Needed about ten minutes of exposition and a few scenes that were probably filmed but didn't make the edit.

There's some good stuff, nice touches, some attention to detail.
The green screen and CG effects in general still look good. There's a CG dog-cat monster thing released by some bad guys, and it hunts Riddick. They drew in an ear tag on it. Totally unnecessary, but great touch.

Tries to shoehorn in a ton of back story, not all successfully, even when it's Judi Dench dropping the exposition bombs.

The kid from the first film is shoehorned into Chronicles, to give the story an emotional core.
Instead of a realistically aged actress, they hired a sexy replacement. She was fine, but the change was big from PB. You don't see her character becoming a sexy murderbot.

There are a few "Wut?" story moments. The ending is kind of rushed. There's some forced emotional growth that doesn't seem more than contrived.

Flawed but still pretty worthwhile.

7/10
The Chronicles of Riddick should be renamed "The Ridiculous Chronicles".

I know I'm supposed to suspend my disbelief a bit during movies, but the scenes where the sun rising causes the planet to basically catch fire where it touches completely ignored any known laws of physics. The way someon can be totally fine in a bit of shade, but literally burn to ash in seconds out in the sunlight, pushed my bullshit-o-meter to breaking point.

There is a third movie just called Riddick by the way, if you liked both of the others then it's definitely worth a watch. I rate it as better than the second, but not as good as the original.

I liked the sequel, it was just bloated, along with missing some scenic connective tissue.

I'll give the third a go on your rec.

My only hope for the story is that they don't try to humanize him.
You can only fuck up the story of a badass anti hero by trying to force emotional stakes.

Rewatched the Cuticles of Red Dick.

The set design, sets, and locations are stellar. Costumes, make up, fantastic. Props, lighting.
It's a great looking movie, must have been considered for some awards.
It looks expensive.

It was great eh? I got pumped up when that hot wolf sang that punky song at her Dad.
So sassy! Lol.
I was doing all I could to hold it in when the lion started the guitar solo for U2 With or Without you. Those kids movies get to me way more than any proper adult sad flix. I was pleasantly surprised with the music choices. I islaly expect teen top 40 and when the first U2 song started I got pumped up. Part 1 was good too.

I saw that in the theatre and loved it. I thought it was going to be a huge hit, then it just disappeared and I barely heard anything else about it.
Ya it’s weird I never even heard of it until it came up on Netflix. I wish there was more scenes showing a bit more tank strategy but it was co to see how a tank crew works together like that.

Pretty good overall, I gave it 7/10. Nothing too deep but I’m a sucker for most movies WW1/WW2 related.
One of the best scenes ever shot, in my opinion. Is the one where the the germans are cook breakfast for Americans. It's so effective, in many ways. Makes you uncomfortable, shows you the contrast between the naive young guy and the hardened veterans, Pitt & Bernthal.

One thing that separates this movie from other movies is the lack of patriotism.

Great movie.

Ya that was good. I wasn’t sure what kind of a turn Pitt was gonna take. Could’ve gone full Orc in there or overly protective of Norman or the girls. His crew got all beta once he slammed the table. That blonde girl was hot.

Just finished “The Batman” on HBO Max. I’d give it a 7.5/10. I really enjoyed it a lot more than I anticipated. It wasn’t my favorite Batman movie ever, but it was definitely a different take/feel. Definitely would recommend.

I just, just finished "The Batman" I thought it was a steaming pile of trash. 5/10. If they shaved off 30-45 minutes it would greatly improve it.

To be more descriptive Dick Niaz @Dick Niaz

Batman is accepted to be the world's greatest detective. He was pretty subpar in that regard in this movie. The whole plot storyline felt very much like it was being held together with bubblegum and tape, but the flood scene and then introducing some low rent Joker when we all know that Joaquin Phoenix is going to be playing that character again in another movie was when I was like "Aight, I'm out." Pattinson was pretty good in the role, but for fuck's sake take some HGH if you want to be Batman, bruv.

However!

I admittedly, did not watch it on weed.

Just watched the newest Jurassic World movie. Not sure what all the hype was about because the special effects sucked and it barely had a plot.jurassic-wood-swollen-ding-dong-an-epic-dinosorgy-a-woodrocket-42635373.png
