If I'm being honest, it's not great to have one of the world's richest humans have control of what will be an "unregulated" social media company once private.

Do we have reason to believe he'll be any more honest than the publicly traded version of Twitter - or will we just see it tweek media traffic in favor of a different narrative?

Twitter becoming super woke and burying stories that didn't fit their ideals wasn't great. If it swings the other way that isn't any better. Censorship is bad - and now instead of a government (or at least their honks) hiding the truth, we may have Musk doing the same.

I do love the "I'm deleting my Twitter" talk, which I'm assuming they are posting from Canada since all the crybabies moved there in 2016.

I look for the US gov't to attempt to maintain some control over the platform.

I don't like Elon. In fact I even think he's a cunt. But I can't see how him owning Twitter is a bad thing...

It's already super restricted, I've literally been pinked for 3 -4 years from there just for calling a lady a cunt. @jason73 is pinked from there as well. In its current form they want you to follow a particular narrative and if you deviate from it you get got. I don't know what Elon has planned for it but it can't get worse.

advertisers associated with tweets of Song2 calling someone a cunt. They don't want their advertisements on tweets from Donald Trump trying to undermine democracy.

So Elon has put himself between a rock and a hard place. If he doesn't continue to ban hate and misinformation (such as that which Song2 and Trump used to spew), then advertisers will pull out, and Twitter's revenues will go down.

If he does ban such misinformation, then he will lose the right-wing fanboys that he has acquired over the last few years
