My wife is a preschool teacher. You can't get in the building unless you call and someone lets you in. That's not under a lockdown drill, it's just common sense to prevent kids from being abducted.

Last thoughts....

When you are trying to solve a problem you start working backwards to how it began to learn to prevent it.

The parents obviously. I could rant about that forever. But we can’t fix that.

As someone pointed out most of the guns were obtained via a legal purchase. That’s where we start. I like the idea of classes and a special license for these types of guns.

I know. I know. They could use any gun. But they like this type of gun.

Classes would serve multiple purposes. Education, responsibility, and hopefully accountability for what they do with it. It’s also a chance for life to intervene. Maybe something would happen to break that cycle (hellbent path) splinty mentioned.

I’ve already put that into practice at my house. My son at 17 asked for an AR 15 for his birthday. He said he could buy it himself at 18. I told him not as long as he is living under my roof. My son is well adjusted as far as I can tell but I couldn’t come up with one good reason for him to have one. And thank goodness I didn’t. A bunch of his young buck friends are here every weekend. Nope.

(My husband has one in the safe if he wants to go shoot it with his dad present. But he is not owning one in my house. He needs to experience life a little more. 18 year olds still get stupid around other 18 year olds.)

Do you know your duty during a school lockdown?

And is it going to take you 12 minutes?
I actually had to start asking this very question to management this week.

The word “shooter” has never been used in any training I’ve had in over 8 years.

This is part of the gun culture fetishism. Loser kid finds power in the idea of the gun. That should be disrupted.

But more than that there is technical actuality. From the same distance a pistol is not as likely to kill instantly or create injury that is so difficult to repair before death occurs the hospital. These are often devastating injuries just on the nature of shooting a rifle so close to the victim.
Many other rifles don't have the same capacity and would require time between shots and/or reloading providing a higher level of defense including law enforcement intervention.
There are factual technical specs that make a semi automatic rifle increasingly dangerous in completing a mass murder and that technical threat goes up with the more bullets available in each magazine decreasing reload time and chance of malfunction by the attacker.

Today I learned some Americans blame evil demons and the removal of prayer from the classroom.

Anyone here support that stance?

I would be interested to hear what the suggestions are to remove evil demons from American society other than just return prayer to the classroom.

They are in California
They're not the same here as k-12 schools are, but they do operate under Ministry guidelines. Technically they're more directly dictated by the Ministry of education because preschools don't have a teacher's union to act in their own self interest.
