Honestly, from the outside it is just surreal.

You have to have training and be registered and signed off as competent to fill out someone's tax return for them. But guns? Nah, what's the worst that could happen?

Here we have a depressed teenage psychopath who wasn't old and legally mature and responsible enough to buy a beer or place a bet in a casino.

But he could walk into a gun store, walk out with two AR-15s and use them to murder 19 random kids a week later.

This kid, he couldn't have come up with a non family member to vouch for him. He was almost completely socially isolated and was known around school for self-harm, killing dogs and cats, making rape and death threats to girls in his classes and threatening to shoot up the school.

Then he buys two AR-15s no problem, murders almost two dozen random 10 year olds, and clowns on here (not you) say the problem here is that elementary school buildings have windows. Unbelievable.

You should be able to have a 9mm handgun in your own home.
You should be permitted with training to stroll around with that gun in public. You should also do it concealed because open carry is for annoying ❄ losers and makes risk identification difficult for the public and law enforcement. Public carry of a firearm should require routine maintenance of certification.

have you read the Preamble to the Bill of Rights?
your country has never had limited government, or respected human rights, it was literally 1. founded on genocide, 2.a slave owning state, 3. an apartheid state and 4. this fucking mess you are in now.

grow up. what freed the slaves was the government, not your righteous guntards.

While true in Texas, this is not true for many states in the US. Background checks are required to purchase any gun in many states. Depending on whether or not that state does their own check or they use the NICS check, that can take weeks to get the results or come back within minutes. In the state I live in, you also have to forego your HIPPA rights in order to allow the state police to check your mental health history. This causes it to frequently take weeks to clear.

Depending on which gun you are purchasing, there can also be a mandatory wait period in order to take possession of the gun. Although, this is typically covered when waiting for the background check to clear.

Many states have also raised the minimum age to purchase/possess certain types of guns from 18 to 21.

There are many other gun related laws that exist in the US.

The Bill of Rights exists to limit the power of the federal government to infringe on the rights of the people. All this means is those types of decisions are delegated to each state. Many states of their own constitution that have a very similar clause to the second amendment, but some of those states seem to completely ignore their own state constitution such as the entire west coast.

because it's easier to commit mass murder with a handgun.

And yet 4/5 on this list were done with semi-automatic rifles

The only reason pistols appear in mass shootings (4+ victims) is because they are in the possession of nearly 3/4 of all gun owners.
