Process of building an end grain cutting board. Don't want to spend a few grand on a large planer so simple router sled it is.

Jarrah(type of eucalyptus), mahogany & rimu (a fairly dense red wood)

Ran a chainsaw on a row of bushes/trees that have been bothering Mom when she mows.

Smack my mom on the face, and I'm coming to cut you down.

Started a simple cedar tabletop for Mom's porch. Nothing fancy, just something basic that will last a couple years and look "rustic as it weathers".

Building it on a couple sawhorses that Grandpa built in 1955. They've been used to build every structure on the farm. Feels good.

Found a snapping turtle, took a piece of scrap wood and had a teaching moment with the kids.

Went to my backyard and dug most of a grave for my old goat, in preparation for her suddenly keeling over at some point. Maybe she'll outlast the sheep.

Then dug a big fucking invasive bush out of the garden because it's too big and heavy for the missus to deal with, then climbed up on the roof of the sunroom and replaced a couple of ancient brittle plastic corrugated roofing sheets that had snapped in the wind, with another couple of ancient brittle plastic corrugated roofing sheets that have been sitting in the shed for decades. Temp fix.

Got around to finishing the table today. Mom's ecstatic, I'm at "meh, OK for a circular saw and a cordless drill".
I told her that if I had my shop tools, I could do something special. She said the neighbor across the road has a big woodworking shop, so next time I come up I'll probably end up doing something worthwhile. But her old one was all beat and busted, so now she can sit out and play cards with the ladies, so she's happy.

I love these sawhorses. Grandpa cleared a shitload of oak trees to make pasture. They drug the logs down with an old tractor and a guy in the next town came with a boom truck and hauled it off to his sawmill. The sawhorses were the first thing Grandpa made, and then used them to build every building on the farm.

wiped it down with water so Mom could see what a spar finish would look like. I am a little proud that I managed to get the strip of heartwood on the top to match up perfectly with a heartwood face on the side trim.

Personally, I love the look of natural cedar, especially as it ages. But to each their own, I think Mom will finish it. Sanding was a sumbitch, but I got it done...my shoulders hate me.

Also loaded up all of the brush I cut out and we hauled it down the the pasture for a bonfire later this summer. Nothing quite like lighting up a giant fire in the middle of a pasture at night...looks like I might be coming back in July, one of my clients is in Des Moines and they said they need some investigatory work done soon.

It is a nice table, and as long as you mother is happy with it. That looks like a nice patch of land too.

also took some scraps from the table and made this "floating platform" for the TV I picked up for the sewing room. They had a 15" CRT in there...smh.
mostly just an excuse to doing something beginning to end with my oldest. She's learning to work the tape measure, lots of good math/fractions stuff.

and ate big plate of Morel mushrooms from "the secret patch". :)
This is what was left of "seconds" when I thought to grab a pic.

Your boards are cupped. You should have put them through a joiner to flatten them or put the crown of the cup up. The way you did it looks like shit.

Also I can see chatter marks from the saw.

Maybe next time hire a professional?

I had two tools, and they were cordless.

You've never created anything in your life. You can't build anything up, so you try to cut others down. You're not liked or respected IRL, so you say shit like this because you don't have interpersonal skills or empathy.

You're a monkey with shoes.

I didn't have a planer or JOINTER (you don't even know what the tool is called), you illiterate dumbfuck.

I was hand-sanding, and cedar comes with one face finished, so that side went up.

There are no chatter marks from the saw.

You have less knowledge and creativity than a public school teacher.

Walking on my deck yesterday I stepped on a mulberry. Remembering how much of a mess that tree made on the deck last year, I walked straight to the garage for my chainsaw and cut the tree down Cark Griswold style.

I meant to to do it in the winter but never got around to it. It's gone now. 20' tree.

When it hit the ground the wife came out. "What the fuck are you doing?!?"

"I stepped on a berry."

I'd point them out but you'll never learn that way.
They don't exist.
Dumbfuck.

No one will ever love you, they'll only pretend long enough to take something from you.

But the joke's on them, you have nothing worth taking.

The funny thing is that I know exactly what he/she is referencing.

But he/she is a dumbfuck with no woodworking skills.

Now I'm definitely not pointing out the chatter marks.
