Rep. Steve Cohen of Tennessee says it should be a red flag when someone purchases a gun immediately after their 18th birthday. In other words, it should basically be illegal for someone to legally purchase a gun.

The right to bear arms.

It doesn’t specify at what age.

And it doesn’t specify what type of arms or how many.

Parent should co-sign or a safety class before age 26! Dammit.

but noting that these are obviously very disturbed individuals and we need to get better at identifying them.
Another good reason to have a parent co-sign a firearm purchase before the age of 26. They know them better than anyone else.

Until they are 26 , have a co-signer, or take the class!

Yes! I knew you would come around. It’s a brilliant idea.

So 26 is the magic number? All of a sudden people will know how to safely handle a gun on their 26th birthday.

Or maybe they'll just be 26 yr olds with no experience with guns.

Or maybe they'll be responsible enough at 18 as long as they are willing to go to war, but when they get out of the military they won't be responsible anymore, so we shouldn't let them have guns until they are 26 when the magic happens.

Actually 22 is the magic number. I picked 26 as to have some negotiation room.

What you quoted wasn't my thought. It was Cohen's thought. I don't agree with it. Keeping people ignorant is not a way to teach people about something.
You couldn’t tell that I knew that? And was being sarcastic?

I find it hilarious that people actually make the argument that people can't have alcohol until they are 21, so they shouldn't be allowed to have guns until they are 21 (an argument being made buy local media).

Great idea! Let's get them drunk first, then let them figure out guns.

Listen, society isn’t raising kids in the same way it did in the past.

Regardless of any argument, the truth is that these offenders that choose schools are generally of a certain age and they have taking a liking to a certain weapon. And doing absolutely nothing to deter them is just....well, stupid.

No one said they couldn’t have guns. You are just being difficult.

If a parent refuses to sign for you, there’s your red flag!

But you can still buy one if you take a firearms safety test first.

True.

Even your best friend filthy said the key was to identify these mentally disturbed offenders. What better way to identify them? The parents know.

Every time one of these shootings happen we start hearing about the “signs”.
Have you seen the interviews with the parents of the Uvalde killer?

LoFuckingL

If he was still alive they'd co-sign for a firearm tomorrow.

Less military spending?
and close overseas bases.

a well-regulated domestic militia to provide for the common defense...as opposed to the largest military force in the history of humanity to provide for the self-interests of the wealthy elite.

even if it's completely ineffective and the unintended consequences are worse than the problem.
