I figured that given all this "January 6 was an attack on democracy" talk people would be infuriated about a more egregious and obvious attempt to overthrow it, but people don't see to care too much about it. Weird.
Maybe because one wingnut with a gun, who got scooped up before he could do anything....... isn't anything close to the same as a mob of thousands attacking the Capitol to prevent the peaceful transfer of power because the President whipped them into a frenzy with total lies? Oh, and then the President's party near-unanimously backs him with his lies and spends the next year themselves lying nonstop about what happened, and putting hundreds of people across the nation into political offices who were selected purely because they're willing to act on these lies and refuse to certify any unfavorable results? Which is actually a legitimate and continuing democratic crisis?

But oh, one random guy with a gun wanted to kill Kavanaugh so waaaaaaaaah, waaaaaaaah, isn't it weird how this lone asshole who got arrested before he could do anything, isn't being given the same level of attention as the worst democratic crisis in America since the fucking Civil War? Anyone else find that weird, guys? Guys?

It's exactly this sort of desperate shilling for cunts which is why you're a clown when it comes to American politics. ?

thats not what Pence's team said about that. he said there would have been short-term and long-term consequences if Pence had rejected the electors

short-term, his counsel said that if Pence had done it, there would have been a very messy political jumpball that would have to be resolved in the courts. he also said that there would have been chaos on the streets

long term, he said that would have set precedent that the VP has the power to reject an election
Fair enough. In either case, not a civil war.

There's no doubt in either of our minds that Trump would've very happily stood by while shit happened that kept him in the Oval Office.

Now, given that he said he wouldn't accept the outcome of an election he loses, and given his inaction when his bullshit led to the riot (I was dumb enough at the time to think "Well the least he can do is give a televised address to the Nation.")...
It's not a great leap. He wanted to stay in power, wouldn't accept defeat, and lit a fire under his brainless idiot worshipers.

If it had gone to Pence and he'd pussed out, many of the people whose votes suddenly didn't matter would pick up weapons.

That led us to this thread. He still leads the party, and they're nearly all lapdogs. His worst, clearly violent followers still believe the election was stolen. This is still a thing, it's not over yet.
My observation is not one of Trump, it's one about how much, or little, people actually care about the integrity of American democracy. Trumpers do something bad it's primetime viewing of the end of the world. Bidenites do something bad it's "Well, these things happen."

Supreme Court judges are the ones who rule on constitutional matters. By killing a Trump appointed judge to replace him with a Biden appointed one is a literal attempt to alter how the American democratic system is supposed to function.

On the other hand, having Pence not certify the election results doesn't change the elections outcome. This has apparently been mentioned in the proceedings by Pence"s own team.
Wait, you are comparing the worst outcome of one thing (judge killed) versus a side effect of the worst outcome in the riot.
What do you think would have happened to the US if actually Pence, Pelosi etc would have been killed?
Just fine n dandy or what.

And what is a bidenite?

They'd have been replaced but the integrity of the system would not have changed. We also don't have any reason to believe there was an actual plan to kill them or anyone else. People see to forget that we saw what happens when someone tries to get into somewhere within the capital they aren't wanted.

No, I'm comparing the reactions by the same group of people to two reasonably similar events. One is the end of the world and one doesn't even bear bringing up. This isn't and has never been about the sacredness of democracy, it's always been about Trump and that's fine, but people need to stop lying about it.

Normally on these occasions people would say you're an useful idiot.

But I'd drop the word useful in this case.

Rambo John J @Rambo John J dont forget to grass this post.
