Today's hearing was about Trumps failed attempt to pressure the DOJ to issue a statement of fraud

Barr resigned. Rosen was made AG

Clark wrote a letter claiming that DOJ found evidence of fraud in states such as Georgia, but DOJ didn't issue it since it was a lie. They hadn't found evidence of fraud per Barr and his susccessors

Trump continued to pressured
Donaghue and Rosen to issue the false letter and leave the rest to him and GOP congressmen. but they refused to cave to his lies. They didn't issue that latter

Trump went on a mission to find someone who would issue that false letter. He found Jeff clark

Trump held a secret meeting with jeff Clark who doesn't have any criminal law experience. He was head of environmental civil divisiom at the time

trumps meeting with clark went against historical firewalls between the DOJ and white house that are designed to prevent an real or perceived conflicts of interest between white house and DOJ

White house counsel (the funny dude from the last hearing) told clark that issueijg that letter from the DOJ would be illegal

Clark started doing investigations of his own

Pat zipeloni also told clark to stand down, but he did not

---

Trump pressured barr to appoint a special counsel to investigate fraud

The DOJ told him that not how it works

Trump has a private meeting with Cindy Powell where he told her she would be the special counsel to investigate fraud

Trump came back on new years and held a paranoid meeting where he asked if they could seize voting machines

Rosen told trump that DHS had already investigated and the machines were fine

Towards end of meeting, Trump threatened to get rid of AG Rosen and Donahue and replace them with clark

-----

Trump sent out requests on new years day with more baseless conspiracies that had already been debunked

Scott perry sent 20min youtube video about Italian conspiracy to Rosen who sent it to Donahue. The conspriacy involved mi6, CIA, leonardo group and others. Donahue watched the video and emailed AG Rosen and called it "pure insanity" since the video was "patently absurd"

Mark meadows called AG Rosen to meet with Johnson about this video, but Rosen said no since this conspiracy had already been debunked.

Mark meadows reached out to trumps Secrtsr of Drfense (christopher miller) and he did call Italy to investigate the crazy claim that Italian satellites were switching votes to biden lol

Worth noting that Trump told Donahue on a December 27th call "you may not be following the internet the way that I do"

----

Since all of trumps goals were being rejected by DOJ, he considering replacing Donahue and Rosens with Clark

Rosen tried to walk Clark back to reality in terms of there not being a factual basis to trumps fraud allegations. Rosen was disappointed that clark continued to believe there was fraud despite not being part of the divisions investigations into prior allegations.

Clark admitted to having more secret meetings with Trump and white house despite having promised to not do that again and/or let Rosen and Donahue know

So Rosen was upset for clark being "insubordinate and out of line"

Clark's response was that he believed they should send out the letter falsely claiming that the DOJ had found evidence of fraud in Georgia

Clark also told them that the tikeline had moved up. That president had offered him AG job and he would be accepting it. This was January 3rd

---

After clark left his office, Rosen did four things
- called meadows and said he needs to speak to trump right away
- called pat zepeloni (white house counsel) and pat said he w9ukd be at the meeting and support DOJs stance as he had been doing so far
- called Engel to join him at meeting since Engle knows his legal shit
- told Donahue to get departments senior leadership on a call to let them know what was going on

Many AGs told Donahue that theu would resigned in mass if Trump fired aG Rosen and appointed crazy clark in his place

-----

During meeting, trump called out Rosen as not even agreeing with the election fraud. Trump said clark might do somethjng tho

Rosen agreed with trump, saying thst he was based on facts and law. So that's why he wasn't going to sign the false DOJ letter. Because he wouldn't let DOJ do amything to overturn the election based off of lies

----

Donahue joined meeting in street clothes. Conversation was not about fraud at this point. Conversaton was about whether trump should replace Rosen with clark

Heated conversation with everyone saying don't do it. Everyone except clark. People countered that clark wasn't even competent or capable of doing the AG job

After all, appijting someone to lead department of 115,000 people and conduct a. Investigation in days when he's literally never conducted a single criminal investigation in his life. Donahue told trump that would be "absurd"

Trump asked what does he have to lose by appointing clark, and Donahue said he would resigned immediately rather than. Work for clark who he had just declared as incompetent

He also told trump that there would be mass AG resignations

He said that if the DOJ released the false letter under clark, the story wouldn't be about fraud. The story would be how Trump went through two AGs in two weeks until you found some environmental guy to sign a letter of lies

English agreed that clark would be running a graveyard

Clark tried getting trump to do it anyway, but trump decided to abandon the AG replacement approach

-----

Three days later, trump continued to tell lies about the fraud during his save America speech on january 6th

During riots, AG Rosen spoke to pelosi who called asking for help. He also spoke to pence twice. He did not speak to the president on janaury 6th

Donahue went to capital to assure it was cleared of rioters and bombs before session was called back to count votes

Donahue also didn't speak to president on January 6th

-----

Days after January 6th, mo brooks, gaetz, and others requested umbrella pardons for everything from beginning of time until that day. Biggs. Goemer jordan perry mtg an dothets discussed getting pardons as well

Clark pled the fifth over 125 times

Shorter version:

Trump pressured DOJ to send out a letter about fraud so thst he and GOP representatives could run with it in terms of using a false slates of electors

Trump was told over and over by DOJ that there wasn't fraud

He attempted to replace AG with a sycophant, but was told that all of DOJ was resign if he did so

So basically, trump was told over and over no fraud. But he tried getting the government to lie and say there was fraud

And he continues to lie and say there was fraud

Oh, yeah. I did read it all, and it's pretty fucked.

That one part just jumped out at me because it suggests that Pelosi was like "There's a riot we need help." and the DOJ just went, "Cool story, bro."

This is how I recall the sequence of events.

Rep. Bennie Thompson, chair of the Jan. 6 select committee, said Wednesday that significant new streams of evidence have necessitated a change to the panel’s hearing schedule, including the potential for additional hearings.

After the committee’s Thursday hearing — which will focus on former President Donald Trump’s effort to deploy the Justice Department to help overturn the 2020 presidential election — House investigators will resume hearings in July, Thompson said.

Thompson (D-Miss.) cited newly received footage from documentarian Alex Holder, who had access to Trump and his family before and after Jan. 6; new documents from the National Archives; and a flood of new tips received during the committee’s first four public hearings.

They've had a year and a half, and had no idea this existed? This investigation sounds extremely thorough.

Might be more like, in seeing the hearings so far, people are now willing to cooperate in case their names come out in other people's testimony.

Like someone with "access to trump and his family".

In no galaxy would the 3 letter agencies not have known that someone was following around the president and his family with a camera.

Oh did it say they didn't know about the documentarian before? I thought it just said they received footage they hadn't before.

If they knew there was footage it wouldn't be a "bombshell" announcement. They're just buffoons,

First half of today was about Arizona. Dirty shit. And it's scary because people who believe the big lie have subsequently been voted into office. Democracy is at risk in the future.
This is the most frustrating thing about people who continue to pretend like Jan 6 was an isolated event with no continuing repercussions. The GOP is quite open about stacking state level legislatures with people who will flat out refuse to certify an unfavourable result in the future. Next time, the anonymous state-level officials who put country before party in 2020 will have been purged.
