If he could do one thing
Not first thing

LoL at hearing "the first thing I'll do is free murderer and rapists" when a guy says "end Life Without Parole".

you get that dangerous people could still be sentenced to Life, and would still have to go before a Parole Board to be granted any kind of limited release, or nah?

Life Without Parole is fraught with problems, mainly that it removes discretion from society in who to release and when.

If he gets rid of life without parole
What criminals would potentially be released?

a lot of people convicted as juveniles

how about people convicted of "felony murder" who have shown an ability to integrate back into society and contribute as normal citizens. It's amazing to me that you think that Fetterman would literally have a policy position that involves releasing dangerous felons.

What were those juveniles charged with?

You want a list?

how hard is it to grasp that Parole Boards still determine who gets released? what social purpose does removing the option of parole serve in sentencing? If Parole Boards are so inept as to release dangerous criminals, shouldn't we do away with Parole altogether?

and?

the example that Fetterman is making is of a fictional character who had reformed and was able to enter society again.

should Red have been sentenced to death?
Or life without parole
He killed 3 people

Qu'eed Batts, who was sentenced to mandatory life without parole for a homicide he committed at age 14.

From your link

How hard is it for you to understand you don’t kill people?

look up "felony murder" and get back to me

and Parole Boards determine who gets Parole. If the circumstances don't warrant parole, then the convict doesn't get paroled.

so society was better served by him staying in prison as an expense than releasing him to contribute?

sounds like you're arguing to abolish parole.
Sure no parole if you murder people.

after all criminals only are re arrested 8 out of 10 times

what's the recidivism rate of inmates over the age of 50 convicted of murder?
Will it go up or down if we release more?

are we now in agreement it’s about releasing convicted murderers?

recidivism rate won't care. It's a rate.
it's always been about releasing felons, some of whom are convicted of murder.

are you saying that every murder conviction should be a death sentence?

yes if you murder somebody you should lose freedom.

How many innocent people are you ok with being killed for every 100 released?

should Red have been sentenced to death?
Didn't he murder his wife for insurance money?

Not only is Ride The Lightning a great Metallica album, it's also a great way to purge the earth of scumbags and save tax dollars.

And before you tell me it costs more to execute someone - I'd get rid of the endless appeals process too.

But I'm resonable - I'd be open to a life spent in servitude to the public resulting in a net zero tax burden, but if you take a life - on purpose - you lose the right to have one. Forever.

Why use “every” and “death sentence “

he wants to release people that stabbed someone to death with garden shears.

He killed his wife and the 2 other people in the car after he cut the breaks

“Knowing that his wife had a sizable life insurance policy in place, Red planned her murder by cutting the brakes on her vehicle. In a dark twist, Red's wife had picked up her neighbor who brought along an infant”
