It didn't strike Jose Aldo at all when he was informed he was the underdog for his UFC 194 title defense against interim featherweight champion, Conor McGregor. In fact, the champion would like to advise pundits to bet on him if they want win some easy money, as he told Sportv.

"Whoever wants to make money, all they have to do is bet on Aldo. It'll be the easiest money they will ever make in their lives" Aldo said. "Just like what happened to Ronda Rousey against Holly Holm. That's not a problem for me. I don't know who decides who gets to be the favorite. I focus on myself. I know what I can do and what I have to do to win."

I think so too. I mean, McGregor is a great fighter but I think it's asking a lot to go from being Cage Warriors champion, to beating the best P4P fighter on the planet in 2 short years.

I honestly have never wanted to see a hype train derailed so badly in my life. Conor believes his own hype just like Ronda with less reason or test. He BARELY got past Chad, who took Aldo the distance. McGregor is going to get truly fucked up.

I'm honestly just hoping for a really good all time great fight.

Or a 1st round KO by Aldo.

Conor is favored for a reason.

And if we're gonna post losses at the beginning of a fighter's career then:

Let's be honest. Conor still looked like a white belt on the ground against Chad, so even though that fight against Duffy is 5 years old, he doesnt appear to have improved his BJJ much since then. Chad passed guard so easy in their fight. Hell, Conor didn't even raise a knee to to try and protect against it. He also never tried any escapes with his hips, and the offense he posed there were some elbows to the top of the head. Now maybe that was a strategy to tire Chad out...but maybe it was just his ground game still being extremely rudimentary as well. If Jose is smart, he will find that out for himself on Dec 12th.

Let's be honest, it really doesn't matter. Jose Aldo has submitted exactly one person in his MMA career.

He hasn't had to attempt many though has he? He's always been the better stand-up fighter and pretty much able to dictate where his fights have gone & the pace they're fought at. I know you're all-in on McGregor, which is what makes this so much fun. It's going to be a great fight...and McGregor fans are either going to be unbearable for months afterwards, or they'll fade away like Ronda fans have.

I'm a fan of both guys, so this is a win/win for me. All I ask for is they both make it to the octagon healthy on 12/12, because the fight is going to be guaranteed fireworks. And if McGregor wins, great...it will mix things up. If Aldo wins, great as well....he may tell Zuffa to shove the belt up their ass at the press conference.

Me is excite.

For reference, here is Aldo vs Korean Zombie. The Zombie is tough as fucking nails, and even though Aldo broke his foot very early in this fight, he cruised and made it look easy. Got a couple of easy takedowns, passed into side control, etc. Jose controlled the distance on the feet, hardly ever got hit, countered, etc.

After watching this fight again, it reminded me of how Aldo just shuts people's offense down and makes them fight his game. Zombie got the title shot by being a go for broke, exciting, offensive fighter. Within a minute into the fight with Aldo, he found himself standing around watching Jose & trying to figure out what to do.

1. TKZ is nowhere near the striker that McGregor is.

2. Aldo was fading fast in that fight. He lost the third round, and if not for a freak shoulder injury, there are many people, myself included, who think he would have been finished in that fight.

Terrible, terrible example of Aldo's so-called "greatness". He was getting his ass whooped in that fight.

TKZ's offense is in a different galaxy to Conor's though
True but I look at this fight like this.

Aldo has more tools in his toolbox, and more ways to win this fight. He has the ability to take Conor down, he has the ability to submit him, he has the ability to wreck his legs, and his stand up is definitely technical enough to use his range to move & counter his way to a decision. Whereas Conor only has one way to win this fight that I can see. Knocking Aldo out. Is Conor's stand up so good that he can avoid everything Aldo will be bringing, and then do what no one else has done & KO Jose? I personally don't think so.

You can't be serious? Round 3 Aldo almost immediately gets a takedown, fight stays on the ground until 2:30, then they grind the rest of the round against the cage. Aldo was up 3-0 when Zombie threw his shoulder out in the 4th.

It was 2-1 and Aldo was completely gassed. Watch the fight again ffs.

This was the end of R3:

We're just talking about a fight brother...one that neither one of us competed in....and one coming up that neither of us are going to compete in. Neither of us know Aldo or McGregor, and I guarantee both of them give two fucks about what you and I think. Just putting some perspective on things, because there's no reason to get upset.

And I had it 3-0. Zombie did nothing in the Rounds 1 & 2, and was either on his back or pressed against the cage for 4 minutes of Round 3. That flying knee (that missed) is 3 seconds of 15 minutes of the fight, in which Aldo dominated about 13 of. He certainly didn't get his ass whooped. Just my opinion, of course.

He won the first two rounds for sure. TKZ said after the fight that his plan was to get Aldo tired and go for a late finish.

I gave TKZ the 3rd. I imagine the judges did too, but I don't know for sure.

And I never said Aldo got his ass whooped, just that he was getting his ass whooped.

But we're all good bro. 13 days :)

I cant wait for the 11th-13th man. I have to be out of town on business 12/6-12/11 but I fly back in the AM, so I'll be home in plenty of time for the Rose/PVZ card. Then it's 48 hours of madness.
