Reinforced & wrapped the high tunnel today.
Laid it out, snapped string every 4', then taped it over the chalk line in case I need to zip tie it.

Harvested some lettuce today and then pricked out lettuce seedlings and planted them in plug trays.

Snacked on some fat yellow raspberries and blackberries.

And laughed at the autos. Packaging states these should be ready for harvest in a few days, lol. Maybe indoors under 18 hours of light...

One week later and lettuce seedlings are looking great. I had 2 casualties, but other than that, this method is money (my first time trying it). So I've got 142 lettuce plants barring any bird issues.

This whiskey barrel gave me 3 cuts of lettuce so far and is now bolting, so it will be 4 total harvests when all is said and done. Sucks to go without fresh lettuce for the next month or so

Minus the cannabis that is what my gal loves most about gardening
Greens and Berries

I also found some auto flower seeds.
Have time for a cycle before weather gets moist here.

I cleared out my last whiskey barrel that had lettuce. Here is round 1.

And here are my lettuce plugs just shy of 3 weeks old. I'll be replanting the whiskey barrels this weekend with them.

Your officially a greensmaster

Quite Impressive

How much sun does your garden area get?
This time of year, a lot, however up until about a week and a half ago we hadn't had a solid day of full sunlight since February 15th. May and June were almost all completely overcast days (we call it June gloom, but it was all of May as well this year). I'm about to put up 40% shade cloth since it's somewhat starting to feel like summer, even though it's much colder than usual.

nice

I mostly meant when the sun would hit your garden area assuming clear skies, aka when the direct light is blocked.

We are 90 every day right now in southern willamette valley, nights are 53-55F.

Also had a rather mild start to summer up here but that seems to be gone and we are into the perfect growing season weather.

Shade cloth is an awesome thing to experiment with

I'm guessing direct sun hits the garden at 9:30ish and where my lettuce is doesn't get shade from the house until maybe 4 right now.
I don't really mess with shade cloth, but knowing what my summers do to lettuce, I decided to purchase some. Hopefully it does what I want it to do.

There are different grades of shade as you know. 10%, 15%, etc...

I have a couple but I use them for humans and chickens.

40% was mentioned for summer lettuce on some video I watched, so that's what I went with. Everything else I'm growing right now will take the sun and the heat.

How are things going in there Spark?

That structure has so much potential for experimentation, I'm jealous.
Have you made a list of different things to try through the year?
I bet you can do something interesting during winter even.
I'm currently waking up in a hotel in S.Dakota, moving my mom from pnw.
I had to setup drip irrigation for that on a timer, arrive tomorrow to find out if anything survived this heatwave lol.

This is the best results I've had with lettuce seedlings, so this method is a winner. The soil has a lot to do with as well. I used Marijuana soil for it (royal gold's king's mix). Stoked. I'll be transplanting over the weekend then we're off to the races again.

60. bucks for 5 seeds here

I didn't pull the trigger
I'm not following. Did you mean to place a link?
I don't think autos are worth the money unless someone has confined space. They are a novelty. If one were to start regular seeds right now, they would be essentially autos since the photo period is about to get shorter. They'd get their 30 days of veg, then flowering would be triggered, plus you'd get the exact genetics you want without ruderalis mixed in.
Maybe these will turn out great, albeit small harvests, but I don't see the point in these really. Lesson learned.

I mean they are charging 12 bucks a seed

That is a lot to me...on principle
