I was in Isreal for y2k and remember Europe switching over, but I just assumed that Ireland, like England, would keep their own monetary system.

Yeah. It was December 1999. There for a port visit with the Navy. We anchored in Haifa and I toured the whole country. Had a blast. Only ran into one Palatinian rode block lol.
