The abortion thing - and Issue 1 in Ohio - was a joke.
The pro life folks made zero concessions in an attempt to make abortions completely illegal no matter what. Woman gets pregnant after a rape? Not the child's fault - you're having that baby.
That's asinine. So instead of trying to make some common sense changes - like different late stage pregnancy limits and things like that - they swung for the fences with a ridiculous stance.
There was no way that was going to pass. I'm actually surprised it was as close as it was - but that was likely because the advertising was very misleading.
I don't even look at it as a GOP defeat.
It's a wacky religious bible-thumper defeat.
What's concerning though is how good the Democrats did everywhere last night. The only thing that Republicans had was the Mississippi Governor being re-elected by beating Elvis' cousin but that's in deep red Mississippi...
I do think the abortion thing as a whole hurt the GOP. Despite it being irresponsible governing, it was way too big of a flex.

I am doing me. I'm not lock-stepping it with the Republican Party. They can all pretty much get fucked for all I care. I'm talking about the existing Dems remaining in power.
