Why do the sheep listen to the dog? Btw, I've heard of a pack of dogs slaughtering half a dozen goats and goats are much bigger so I understand the fear but a whole herd? That's gotta instinctual and genetic, right?

It is, my GSD would do the same things with my chickens, pigs and cows, surprised the shit out of me the first time she did it, but that is why they are called Shepard's, it's ingrained in them. She would never attack them, would just cut them off to get them where she wanted them to go.

The wolf beast (RIP) did this one day when the llamas beat me to an open gate.

Surprised the shit out of me, and them I think.
After that she could do no wrong in my book.
They went from wary to sleeping next to her in the field when she chased out a neighbor dog that git into the pen.

She might jack up someone else's stock, but she would die to protect her own.

Yep, once they are part of the pack, don't fuck with my pack. It's pretty cool to see it happen.

I feel bad for that pup, chasing rhe ambulance.

Although, my Braf brain is laughing at the scenario they picked up the person who had been mauled by that dog but didn't know, and he was chasing it down to finish the job, and they were horribly mauled when they let the pup in.

It's not easy going through life with Braf brain, but it is funny
