Has anyone seen the Midway movie with Dennis Quaid and Woody Harrelson? Any good? It's on my watchlist, but the trailer made it look kinda meh

My worry is that it's total shit like MIchael Bay's Pearl Harbor movie
THe original Midway is pretty damn good IMO
Haven't seen the new one

The gunny sergeant that is barely intelligible in generation kill went to prison for molesting multiple kids in real life

But that doesn't ruin the series for me...he was pretty changed from the guy from what I understand.

Just reinforces my impression that they were a bunch of tweaked out scumbags

miles from the character of men from Easy Company in BoB, for example

Realistic people instead of idealized imo...
I mean, there are a lot of various accounts of the character of men that served in Easy Company.

Most of The dudes on Generation Kill would be in prison if they weren't in the Marines lol, and most of the officers are incompetent idiots

1917 is another one I enjoyed a lot
I know im just a bear but I hated 1917. Was pumped to see it and saw it in theaters. Honestly not even a really war movie in my opinion. It was a summer action suspense/ thriller using ww1 as the backdrop essentially.

Ive been watching the pacific for the first time this week. I absolutely love band of brothers and consider it essential human viewing.

Im enjoying the pacific but its a very different product. Band of brothers shows the best and worst of humanity and really embodies the best of what all living creatures should aspire to.

The pacific focuses on the individuals and what war does to people. Definitely much more focus on psychology and the breaking down of the human spirit because of how ugly the war is.

Both series really seem to capture the contrast in experiences of the 2 campaigns. I like the pacific alot but I dont see myself sitting through it again because its a really sad experience.
