My son wants an arcade for Christmas. These are the three he sent, he's only asking for one of them. Which of these three would you pick?

I know there are ways to also build your own. Have any of you done that? Can it be done for around the same price? Is the gameplay and quality as good, or better? Pros and cons?

I'm down to build but I don't want to spend much more and I don't want it to be too complex

I always wanted an arcade with all in juan fighting/shootemups/beatemups and a shooting one for House of the dead, Time crisis, etc. They'd have to have their own cabinets, though. I want the buttons to match the games as close as possible.

I'm guessing it would take noobs like us quite a bit of time to get one done. Getting the games, mame is the easy part. You can find flawless versions but the build and fine tuning would probably take months.

You'd be a total hero if you got all three of those in one cabinet though, lol. Idk if you will have time for my requests but I can wait.

No idea how much it'd cost, but getting something like a raspberry pi, mini pic, or whatever with a bunch of emulators and a screen in a cabinet like this to not only play arcade games, but a ton of console stuff, would be absolutely badass.

There are a number of people on youtube showing theirs.

I couldn't choose between the two knowing I could spend $500 and put in the work to have every arcade game ever published at my fingertips. I'd install a lightgun on the side too. And a trackball.

The trick is getting it done by Christmas eve. His boy is a damn good boy and it would be a shame to disappoint him.

If you are at all handy, it's pretty easy to build a cabinet, ad a Raspberry Pi with RetroPiE and install nearly every older video game you could think of.

who had the huge thread on the OG about building these, it literally had every game up to a ps1 I believe with emulation, he actually provided sites where you could download them.

My wife got me one of the ones with basically every game there is for Father’s Day a few years ago. As a certified nerd, I can tell you it’s not hard to do it yourself. You can have more games for less but it’s a fair bit of work (on the software side; the hardware is simple). I, personally don’t have the time to do that and am very glad to have gotten the one that’s all ready to go.

Also as much as I love MKII, we play the Marvel vs Capcom games way more.
